The Golden Fish by Alexander Pushkin

/the sixth exerpt/

The old bones returned to his lady.
What had he seen? There was a Grand Palace.
Also, he saw his old lady,
She sat at the table alike a Tsarina,
The boyars and noblemen served her
They filled her cup with a rare overseas-wine
She had a stamped pryanik* as a hors-d'oeuvre
The severe bodyguards surrounded her
They were armed with the hatchets.
As soon as the old man had seen it he was frightened
He bowed humbly to the feet of his lady
And he uttered:
 - "Allow my greeting You, The Terrible Grand Tsarina!
I hope your soul is satisfied and you are happy now".
He wasn't awarded even a glance from the woman?
She just ordered to take him away
The boyars and noblemen ran at him in a moment
They pushed and beat him up roughly
Then the bodyguards dragged him out the doors
They almost killed him with their hatchets.
And the mob made a mock of him:
- "It serves you right, the old lout!
That will be a good lesson to you, the old boor!
Don't get a place above your station!"

pryanik* (a pepper cake, a kind of  spicy gingerbread*)
