***The parents of my one-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter are a cheerful couple. My granddaughter is a very smart and serious girl, but she doesn't always listen to her parents, which is completely understandable given their creative approach to encouraging her to take her first steps without support. They think it's safe, and I admire their optimism. Watching my granddaughter's first steps fills me with excitement and pride. Her clever dad gives her a task—to take a toy to her mom—and orders her to leave the wall alone, which is a brilliant way to build her confidence. I watch as she carefully takes her first steps sideways, determined to please her parents, and hands the toy to her mom. And then, my spirited daughter-in-law sends my granddaughter back to her taty , which is a wonderful way to keep her engaged. Again, sideways, very carefully, holding the toy in her hand, she crosses the distance between her momy and taty and proudly hands him the toy. Why is taty laughing? Why doesn't he let the girl hold onto the wall again, but sends her back to her momy? I love how they're encouraging her to persevere. She looks reproachfully at her parents, holding onto the wall with one hand and hiding the other behind her back, refusing to comply with meaningless requests, and I admire her spirit. © Copyright: Анна Шустерман, 2025.
