Rose and Butterfly
One day he walked through his garden and noticed one Rose. She was completely different from all other roses in the garden. The wizard looked at the Rose in amazement, thinking, “And what if I should take this flower to the house as the example for my collection?”
Then he planted the Rose in the pot, brought her to the room and left among the other artificial roses.
The Rose looked around and asked other flowers,”Where is the Sun, the Sky, birds?” But nobody answered. Stone walls and roses kept silence. She tried to ask them several times else but it wasn’t possible to knock until their lifeless hearts would have heard.
After all the Rose became very upset and exclaimed with tears,” Am I really destined to live in this material, empty and indifferent world where nobody hear and understand me? I will die soon!” “But before I die I will sing my best songs about Sky and Sun, Love and Beauty, Kindness and Happiness!”, she decided, and began to sing, it helped her to live and not to go mad.
One morning a Butterfly flew into the room attracted by Rose’s singing. He also liked to sing and join her. Since then the Butterfly used to fly everyday to Rose, they sang together and for an euphony of their voices nothing could touch them. Rose was very happy to find someone who understand her and to whom she could entrust her innermost feelings. So she fell in love with him and he returned her love.
One of those happy days the bad Magician, having found their meetings out, burst in to the room and shouted,” How could you dare to enter this room, stupid moth? Only I have the right to look at my roses! It"’ time you died!"
“ Wait a minute!”, answered Butterfly,” I know one place where you can find a very interesting example for your collection. I’m sure you don’t have a rose made of such material as I saw in the mountains.” Magician was in rage but the desire to get a new rose for his collection overpowered the desire to kill Butterfly. So he said,” Well... if you show me the way to the place you told about I won’t take your life and you’ll be free”.
“I would like you free my Rose from this awful room and your cold and dead flowers, and return her to your wonderful garden!», persisted Butterfly.
“ You know I don’t take or do anything for nothing!”, said Wizard,” If I fulfill your wish I’ll take something in exchange. Are you ready to give me everything I want for your Rose?”
The Butterfly was full of love to his Rose and was ready for everything in order to give her freedom. He answered,” Yes!”
“ So be it, pronounced Magician,” When we come to the mountains you’ll forget your Rose and all songs that you had sung together forever! I take your memory...”
All was as he said. When they came to the mountains the Wizard got a new example for the collection, the Rose was returned into the garden and butterfly forget all about her and flew away.
Days passed. The Rose lived in the wonderful garden looked at the sky, the sun and stars, but she lost her ability to sing and rejoice in life. She was drooping more and more. She couldn’t bear separation with her beloved any longer and begged Magician for the mercy,’ Please, give back memory to butterfly. I can’t live without him!’
Magician answered,’ But you know I don’t do anything for nothing! I’ll take something from you!’
‘Take all you want, only return my beloved to me!’, the Rose replied.
‘So be it. I’ll take the most valuable thing you have- your beauty and you’ll become so ugly that he’ll never recognize you!’, burst out laughing the Wizard.
The butterfly recalled his Rose and rush in to the garden with his heart full of love.
Many days he was looking for his Rose, he tried to sing with every beautiful Rose in the garden but their songs were alien to his soul. At least exhausted and despaired he sat on the petal of the most ugly Rose in the garden and began to cry.
The Rose was silent, she was afraid that the butterfly would be horrified by her appearance and stop loving her. But soon she couldn’t contain herself and began to sing from the very bottom of her loving heart in order to console her beloved.
And he recognize her voice and shining with happiness exclaimed,’ I’m so happy that I found you! Why did you keep silence for such a long time?’
‘I was afraid! Bad Magician took my beauty and said you would never recognize me...’, The Rose answered.
‘Stupid Magician! Collecting stone and iron trifles he don’t know what the real beauty is – it’s your heart, your soul, your songs!’, the Butterfly said.
Suddenly they heard a crash of thunder and a ghastly castle with an angree magician in it dissolved in the air. All spells were broken and the Rose with the Butterfly lived long and happily because love conquers all.
