Mirrors

Billions of mirrors existed in the world. Billions of mirrors of different shapes and colors. The youngest ones had absolutely flat and clear surfaces; with the course of time, however, some of them acquired volume, became three-dimensional and there used to be even four-dimensional ones. There were mysterious stories about five and six dimensions, but who can believe such a swindle.

In fact the mirrors didn’t even guess that they were mirrors. They just existed. But Something broke the peaceful routine of their EXISTENCE. It came to this world and all the surfaces of all the billions of mirrors showed that Something its reflections. Most of them were pretty much the same, some were absolutely different from the others. They moved, they talked, they cried, they argued, they danced, they whined, they sang, they laughed... The thing is, they started TO LIVE within those mirrors. Each reflection tried to prove that it is genuine and unique. But all of them were alone, as they couldn’t leave their mirrors, cross the boundaries of the surfaces. All they could do is just to watch their neighbours, and if there new mirrors appeared, they could pretend that they were the first TO BE reflected…

All the reflections tried to copy Something’s gracious way to move around in order to prove others their priority. So they showed tricky things they could manage to do, but their efforts were too obvious, too explicit and too awkward.

Something was the only creature who was free indeed. It didn’t care about anything. It existed just like the mirrors.
