Еда и образ жизни на английском яз
Modern life is full of temptations. On the one hand, an average individual is able to afford such type of nutrition that he or she never experiences hunger. Numerous fast food chains invite to their outlets at each and every corner. All this may cause a considerable weight gain.
On the other hand, the current trend of being slim urges both sexes to fight obesity.
There exist numerous ways to lose weight. Some of them seem extremely radical, like plastic surgery, putting a restrictive ring on one’s stomach and things like that. Other ways turn to be less physically painful, but they turn to affect the human brain and, thus, irreversibly damage his or her emotional sphere.
Modern food industry offers a variety of different products. Supermarkets are over packed with food and drinks from all parts of the world. Most of those products are not healthy. Over consumption of the fast food and not healthy diet may lead to overweight or even obesity. Obesity does not only cause different diseases but, also, decreases self-esteem. Current trend of being slim pushes people to fight overweight. There exist numerous ways to lose weight. Some of them seem extremely radical, like plastic surgery, putting a restrictive ring on one’s stomach and others. However, the most acceptable and less physically painful way, of course, is diet. Following a diet only seems simple. Actually diet has not only physical consequences like losing weight, feeling better and improving health status, but, also, has deep psychological effect on the human brain and emotional sphere.
One experiment took place in Laboratory of Physiological Hygiene at the University of Minnesota in 1944 and showed that people changed mentally and physically as a result of a long starvation span. They lost their ability to concentrate, experienced weakness and unpredictable nervous reactions. The experiment proved that dieting might be simply dangerous. The rehabilitation period of the experiment described that recovery did not depend on the food only; people continued to be depressed and unable to function normally.
This is another proof that insufficiency of vitamins and minerals that should be included into normal daily menu may cause misbalance in the human body, and, as a result, trigger physical or mental disease.
Another example of dieting with irreversible result is anorexia. Anorexia is an eating disorder, chiefly in young women, characterized by aversion to food and obsession with weight loss. Often, anorexia turns to the deadly disease because irreversible result of the starvation diet cannot be compensated even by medical assistance. The conclusion that can be drawn is that dieting should be very careful and consider all factors of the healthy status, age, and medical opinion. Dieting and following healthy plan should be a way of life and not a periodical effort.
