Promoting a healthy lifestyle, helping people to quit smoking is a very hard task.
As for my opinion, such work is most efficient in the paradoxical combination: 1) when people get frightened about the bad habits. 2) And they have disgust at the same time, because of understanding the anti-aesthetics of smoking.
A good example is the NHS 'Anti Smoking' Viral video, wiich scares smokers and simultaneously mocks attitude to smoking as a sign of "masculinity." The hidden message: "Every cigarette - a blow to the body"
P.S. The reason of my reflections is the sudden death of my good freien. He died at the age of 64 becase of a heart attack. In his youth he was an exceptionally healthy man, involved in sports. If only he had found the strength to quit smoking ...
