Calling a Spade a Spade
A Letter to my Readers

Dear Friends,

I would like to talk on a very interesting issue. I mean the so-called “loyalty”.
What is loyalty? In my opinion, this subject matter is extremely important for any country and Israel is not an exception.

In this respect, I feel like broadening the concept suggested by Israel Beiteinu (Israel is Our Home) Party “no loyalty – no citizenship” concerning the so-called “Israeli Arabs” who consider themselves as holding “duel citizenship” of Palestine and Israel.  I consider that there exists only one and single solution to solve this issue: giving them their own statehood within the borders of their enclave. Otherwise, they would go on considering themselves that way, i.e. claiming their rights from Israel and delegating their obligations to the non-existing state of Palestine.

On the other hand, there exists a whole category of Israeli Jews who show the least loyalty to their State. On the contrary, they do their best to harm their Motherland. Their hatred is so big that they gather sensitive information to show Israel from a negative perspective. From time to time we learn their names from the media and wonder how that might have happened.

It is not too bad if an individual in question is an ordinary person. In this case the person’s influence does no spread beyond his or her family, working place or a number of peers.

But what happens when a man or a woman under discussion does possess political and/or social influence? He or she can be a MP, a former Government Minister, prominent scientist, artist…

As a result, there may result in evil. And here is a good example: the former Cabinet Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, MP  has contacted a high-ranking official from the opposite side in order to persuade another statehood leadership to refrain from direct talks with Israel and “wait until better times when his party comes back to power”.

In this respect, I feel like asking a few questions that MUST be answered:
First, who has delegated Haim Ramon to contact Mr. Said Erikat?
Second, how has he dared to address a Palestinian official responsible for the negotiation process while his party remains in opposition?

Third, how would he look into my eyes and your eyes?

Fourth, does he feel fine with his own step?

Fifth, how would the Israeli officials react to this act of direct and quite vivid betrayal?

Sixth, why has this been done?

And, finally, will we “have the nerve” to call a spade a spade?

Thank you in advance.

Sincerely,
Zalman – Ziv Vinokur, Israel
