i forgot to answer your questions about my racing career... it was brief... during the summer between 8th and 9th grade ... { i think}
me and an older man that was an engeneer at the big JOHN Deere travtor factory made it ... so i was the driver and he was my mechanic .. we only raced one ummer but won lots of races and trophies .. it was a very competitive class because we all had to have the same horsepower engine so the drivers skill would be important ... but everyone cheated like hell to get more horsepower and advantage .. but i suppose that put us all equal again ... one of the simplest and most effective things we did was take out the filter of our cleaner and replace it with a small wet sponge... moist air carries more oxygen into the carburator .. it seemed to give us a boost ... another thing we did was to put a lock swith on the brake and i,d control my speed by skidding the tires slightly ... it,s call " scrubbing".. if i was going too fast for a corner i,d scrub off some speed ... but we always keep the motor at maximum speed and horsepower ... it was illegal and unsafe to lock your accelerator but what- the - hell !!!... after that summer i was too involved with high school sports and band and my 2 jobs to continue.. but i was really fun .. i hated getting passed!! it really tok me off... HA!! ... i only wrecked the car once .... it was really bad crash and 2 kids got hurt .. we had to rebuild our car ... the best race it had ... it was a paved track and on the fastest corner it was highly banked and i was passed on the outside and some muther fcker ran me off the track over the high bank !! ... i flew through the air about 90 miles HA!!!... i landed in a cloud of dust in the pits and kept on going full speeed through the pits abd back onto the track ... i caught up the pack and i finished third from last .. it was not a good finish but i think it was my best race ...
