If I could undress
and laugh
If I could forget
and mumble
If I could re-awake
and flutter, like a leaf in empty winds
But all I can do, is sit and ponder
like a fallen tree conifer
With the hollow eyes
Of ambers turned to cinders
The skin thicker
The tongue sharper
As if one step ahead
one step aside
one step away
a bit above reality
As if it's all a play that I compose
sly and skillfully
in the dark, when nobody is looking.
But then it dawns
the morning hits the shades
the noises come to sway
me back to bay
The same people remerge
the same questions resurface
the same answers replay
but alls a blur
for there is but one
of real importance
Like going back to the school
you used to go to
and knowing that you're out
but somehow it still matters
The recess of the soul
descends abruptly.
Like hidden mirror in
a twilight room, reflecting light.
with matte clarity
and loaded dice.
