Northstar Editorial January 2011

Dear comrades,

Let me send you my heartiest congratulations for the New Year 2011! I hope it will be the year of rising of people's revolutionary activities in our Motherland and all over the world.

We have now said good-bye to the 1st decade of the 21st century.

For us it was a decade of total decline, notwithstanding the loud rhetoric of Putin-Medvedev.

It was the direct prolongation of Yeltsin's era. Moreover, I cannot agree that the 1990s and the 2000s are two different periods in our history – this is one common tragedy of Soviet people. One black era of Yeltsin-Putin-Medvedev, etc.

Disintegration of the former Soviet republics and degradation of industry, science and culture continued for all this years. We can remember a number of bloody acts of terrorism performed by Chechen terrorists all over Russia (Beslan, Moscow, etc), we can remember a large number of catastrophes (from the "Kursk" submarine to Sayano-Shushenskaya hydro plant) – all of them, in this or that way, are consequences of the great tragedy of my people which begins with Gorbachev's perestroika and has no end till now.

Nevertheless what Putin or Medvedev speak of "modernization" or "neo-technologies", "Skolkovo" – it is obvious it is nothing but a fake. All knowledge-intensive enterprises were eliminated in 1990s and the last of them – in 2000s. There is no technology base and no specialist able to develop new technological base – because the education system is also destroyed. The situation is much more worse than it was in early 1920s after the Civil War – that's because at that time we had a Soviet Government willing to develop the country and to improve the lives of the people. Now we have NOTHING and the comprador government is willing to turn Russia into a full-scale colony of U.S. imperialism.

To be short, we can name 1990s as time of irregular decline – and we can name 2000s as time of regular decline.

What is our future? How should we look forward to the 2010s?

Now I estimate that the present state of Russia as a semi-colony, but, to be frank, if the decline continues in the same direction – our future is a full colony. We should not forget that in June 2007 this "patriot" Putin forced the State Duma to adopt the law permitting location of foreign troops on the Russian territory. The authorities tried to adopt this law quietly, but revolutionary communists have done their best to organize large-scale protests against it. Unfortunately, our resources were certainly not sufficient to stop this betrayal at all. This was followed by "joint" military training with NATO troops in Mulino, Nizhny Novgorod region – it was the first experience of NATO troops coming to Russia. The training was not so large as it was supposed to be – maybe, partly due to people's protests. But it took place, and this fact should not be forgotten.

A new rising imperialist predator is China – although covered with "communist" clothes. China for a long time already had nothing in common with socialism and freedom for the peoples. Its "red" colour is a great fake. In January of 2011 China has taken away from Tadjikistan (a former Soviet republic in Middle Asia) three per cent of its territory -and the Tadjik bourgeois authorities, puppets as well, have adopted passing their land to China! We cannot forget that this "patriot" Putin has made a "gift" to China – two Russian islands Tarabarov and Bolshoi Ussuriyskiy. There is no doubt China is not completely satisfied with this gift – its aspirations include large Far Eastern territories and resources. As well, Japan has not canceled its aspirations for the Kurile Islands.

The situation in Ukraine is not better. Ukraine had several military and naval trainings with NATO, in 2006 (Odessa and Sevastopol) and as well as in other years. Ukraine is being slowly engaged into NATO - and it is very dangerous for Ukraine (and for Russia as well).

Former Soviet Baltic republics Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have joined NATO in 2004 – now they are competent members of this aggressive military bloc led by U.S. and suppressing freedom of peoples all over the world.

The U.S. military base in Kvrqvzstan (another former Soviet republic in Middle Asia) continues to exist – though it has been "restructured" – but in fact it is a U.S. military base and nothing else!

Belarus is the only island of freedom in the post-Soviet territory. But we see Belarus and its President Alexander Lukashenko are under permanent pressure from U.S. imperialism and its puppets from Moscow.

We must tell the truth – only RESISTANCE can save us from complete elimination.

However, the destruction of industry and material resources is not the most dangerous thing. The most dangerous thing is destruction of the Soviet people as an entity.

I mean, first of all, educational, cultural and moral degradation of the new generation. It is the generation born in 1990s – those who are 15-20 years old now. The authorities are doing all their best to turn these young people into unthinking robots who don't know (and are not interested to know) anything about their Motherland and its heroic history, who are interested only in money and Western promoted entertainment.

We have only one way to save our Motherland, our people, to restore the Soviet Union and socialism – and its active resistance. We should find non-indifferent people (and first of all young people) and unite them. It is our first task, a very hard but essentially necessary task. It is propaganda. It is much more difficult as long as opposition movement is atomized, and there are some organizations calling themselves "revolutionaries" but in fact – they are stool-pigeons and traitors. Sometimes it's very hard to expose the difference and to recognize such fake organizations.

Second, we should never limit our efforts to Russia or Ukraine. Not an inch of Soviet land may become "former" for us.

It is a long and hard way. But we have no other choice in our struggle.

Resist you mighty land!
