 Случаи гибели Российских детей по вине приёмных родителей в США.

1) 16 октября 2003 - Лайам Томпсон, возраст три года, Огайо.
 Умер от ожогов. Приёмный отец, Гэри, положил его в ванную с водою в 140 градусов.  Ребёнок получил ожоги 2й и 3й степени. Приёмная мать, Эми, не обращалась за помощью 2 дня и мазала его туленолом и вазелином. Она обратилась в госпиталь лишь когда у Лайама появилось нарушение дыхания. Эми и Гэри, оба,  были приговорены к 15 годам за непредумышленное убийство. После усыновления из России Лайам прожил в этой семье 5 месяцев.

2)   22 января 2005 г.  -  Дэннис Мэримэн, урождённый Денис Урицкий 8 лет, Харфорд, штат Мэриленд.
Умер от остановки сердца вызванной длительным голоданием. Он весил 37 фунтов. Оба родителя, Самуил и Донна Мэримэн, были арестованы и обвинены в убийстве первой степени и  жестоком обращении с детьми, повлёкшим смерть ребёнка. Был усыновлён из России за  5 лет до трагедии.

3) 2 июля 2005 г. Нина Хильт, возраст 2 года, Вэйк Форест, Северная Каролина.  Удочерена из России в 2003г. Умерла, получив несколько ударов в живот. В марте 2006 г. её приёмная мать Пэгги Хильт умоляла суд квалифицировать её преступление как убийство второй степени, с тем чтобы избежать осуждения за убийство первой степени. Она объясняла свой поступок тем, что была очень расстроена неудачной попыткой установить взаимопонимание с девочкой. Адвокат заявил, что ПРИЁМНАЯ МАТЬ СТРАДАЛА АКОГОЛИЗМОМ И УМСТВЕННЫМИ  РАССТРОЙСТВАМИ.  25 мая 2006г. была осуждена на 25 лет тюремного заключения.

4)  14 августа 2005 - Исаак Джонатан Диестра, возраст 21 месяц, Айова-Сити. Согласно мед. отчёту, умер вследствие многочисленных повреждений, полученных в результате случайного падения.
У Исаака была массивная опухоль мозга, внутречерепное кровотечение, опухоль сетчатой оболочки обоих глаз, синяки на теле и ногах.  Приёмному отцу, Брайану Диестра, было предъявлено обвинение в убийстве 2 степени, но в настоящее время освобождён под залог 15000 долларов после уверений в своей невиновности.  Исаак после усыновления из России пробыл в семье Диестра три месяца.

5) 7 марта 2008г. - Николай Емельянцев, возраст 14 месяцев штат Юта, умер в результате сильной травмы головы.  Были обнаружены также  синяки на лице, голове, колене и попе. Приёмной матери, Кимберли Емельянцевой было предъявлено обвинение по одному пункту в убийстве первой степени. К этому на следующий день добавили обвинение  в жестоком обращении с детьми.  Приёмному отцу, Фёдору Емельянцеву, было предъявлено также обвинение в жестоком обращении с другим усыновлённым из России 4х летним ребёнком.


6) 8 июля 2008 г. Чейз Харрисон, возраст 21 месяц, Вирджиния, умер от сильного перегрева, вследствие того, что приёмный отец, Майлс Харрисон, запер ребёнка на заднем сиденье в машине и вернулся только через девять часов.  Суд признал приёмного отца невиновным, поскольку полагал, что он и так достаточно пострадал.  Ребёнок урождённый Дмитрий Яковлев из  Российского детского дома в псковской области. Прожил в доме Майлса и Кэррол Харрисон три месяца. 

7) 25 августа 2009 г. - Натаниел Крэвер, возраст 7 лет, умер от травмы мозга. Нанетте и Майклу Крэверу предъявлено обвинение в убийстве первой степени за избиение, приведшее к смерти приёмного сына Ивана Скоробогатова, усыновлённого из России в 2003 г. вместе с сестрой. Крэверы утверждали, что ребёнок сам причинил себе увечья.

8) 9 февраля 1996 г. Дэвид Полрейс, возраст 2 года, Колорадо.  Был забит насмерть. Тело ребёнка на 90 процентов было покрыто порезами. Приёмная мать, Рэни Полрейс, утверждала, что Дэвид поранил себя сам деревянной ложкой. Мужа в это время не было дома. Рэни Полрейс была осуждена за жестокое обращение с ребёнком, повлёкшее смерть и приговорена к 18 годам тюремного заключения. Дэвид после усыновления из России прожил в семье шесть месяцев. 

9) 25 ноября 1998 г. Логан Хиггинботам, возраст 3 года, Вермонт. Усыновлён из России. Умер от травмы головы. Приёмная мать, Лаура Хиггинботам, утверждала, что Логан упал с лестницы, ведущей в спальную, и разбил голову. Три года мед эксперты пытались установить, было ли падение случайным или присутствовало насилие над ребёнком.  В 2004 г. Лаура Хиггинботам была осуждена на год тюремного заключения.

10)  31 октября  2000 г.  Виктор Мэтью, возраст 6 лет, Нью Джерси. Погиб от гипертермии после того как приёмные родители, Роберт и Бренда Мэтью, заперли его на ночь в насосной. Виктор также подвергался избиению со стороны приёмного отца. Приёмные родители были осуждены на десять лет за то что заперли ребёнка в насосной, ещё десять лет - за жестокие телесные наказания и ещё семь лет - за не оказание должной медицинской помощи. Виктор после усыновления из России прожил в этой семье 10 месяцев.

11) 30 ноября, 2001 г. Лука Эванс, возраст 1,5 года, Индиана. Усыновлён из России. Умер от множества повреждений головы, падучей и плохого питания. Приёмная мать, Натали Фабиан Эванс, утверждала, что не могла разбудить Луку в одно утро и положила его в ванную, чтобы взбодрить его, где он и разбил голову.  Следствие затянулось надолго. Эванс предстала перед судом за убийство в октябре 2005.

12) 14 декабря 2001 года - Яков Линдорф, возраст 5 лет, Нью Джерси. Умер от травмы головы, несовместимой с жизнью.  Также пострадал от ожога ног 2й степени, кровоизлияния в одном глазу, также обнаружены синяки. Приёмная мать, Хизер Линдорф, была признана виновной и приговорена к шести годам тюрьмы. Приёмный отец, Джеймс, приговорён к четырём годам испытательного срока и 400 часам общественных работ. Яков после усыновления из России прожил в этой семье шесть недель.

13) 15 августа 2002 года, Захарий Хигиер, возраст 2 года, Массачусетс. Усыновлён из России. Умер от мощной травмы головы. Приёмная мать, Наталия Хигиер, сказала, что ребёнок выпал из детской кроватки и разбил голову. Позднее она созналась, что швырнула ребёнка, и он ударился головой о кофейный столик. Захарий получил двусторонний перелом черепа, инсульт, отек мозга, и отделение сетчатки глаз. Приёмная мать была осуждена за непредумышленное убийство.

14) 23 октября 2002, Мария Бэннет, возраст 2 года, Огайо. Приёмная мать, Сюзан Джейн Бэннет, сказала, что споткнулась с Марией на руках и выронила её. Мед экспертиза показала другое. Была осуждена за убийство по неосторожности на три года. Мария после удочерения из России прожила  в семье 9 месяцев

15)  11 августа 2003 г. Джессика Альбина Хэгманн, возраст 2 года, удочерена из России. Погибла от удушения. Приёмная мать, Патриция Хэгманн, утверждала, что случайно убила Джессику, пытаясь прекратить её истерику. Патриция была приговорена к испытательному сроку и к двум отложенным пятигодичным срокам.

16) 18 декабря 2003 г. -  Алекс Павлис, 6 лет, штат Иллинойс. Забит насмерть приёмной матерью из США, Ирмой спустя шесть недель после усыновления из России.  На теле ребёнка обнаружено 32 синяка, шрамов и порезов. По словам Ирмы, у неё были большие трудности с ребёнком: он бился головой о стены и пол, ходил по большому и маленькому под себя. В отчёте указывается, что ребёнок мог сам нанести себе вышеперечисленные повреждения.  Ирма была осуждена за непредумышленное убийство.

Since 1996, 16 Russian children have died at the hand of their U.S. adoptive parents. Here are some quick facts on these chilling cases.

October 16, 2003 - Liam Thompson:

age 3, of Columbus, Ohio, died from scalding and neglect. His adoptive father, Gary, placed him in a tub of 140 degree water. He received 2nd and 3rd degree burns. His LPN adoptive mother, Amy, neglected treatment for 2 days, then treated him with Tylenol and Vaseline. She took Liam to the hospital only after he went into respiratory failure. Amy was sentence to 15 years for child endangering and involuntary manslaughter. Gary received 15-life for murder. Liam was adopted 5 months prior.



January 22, 2005 - Dennis Merryman:
age 8, born Dennis Uritsky, of Harford County, Maryland died after suffering cardiac arrest brought on by starvation. He weighed 37 pounds. Both parents, Samuel and Donna Merryman, were arrested and charged with manslaughter and first degree child abuse resulting in death and reckless endangerment. He was adopted almost 5 years ago.

July 2, 2005 - Nina Hilt:
age 2, of Wake Forest, North Carolina died after suffering several blows to her abdomen. Her adoptive mother, Peggy Hilt, In March 2006, Hilt plead guilty to second degree murder to avoid a charge of first degree murder. She said that she was frustrated due to the lack of bonding between Nina and herself. Hilt's lawyer said that she was an alcoholic and suffered from mental problems. May 25, 2006, Peggy Hilt was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of her daughter. Nina was adopted in 2003. Take a moment to remember Nina.
August 14, 2005 - Issac Jonathan Dystra:

age 21 months, of Iowa City, died from what was reported as injuries from an accidental fall. Issac was recovering from club foot surgery and according to adoptive father, had a fall when the cast was removed.

Isaac had massive brain swelling, severe bleeding inside the skull, and retinal swelling in both eyes. He also had severe bruising on his torso and legs. This is more descriptive of shaken baby syndrome, not a fall.

Adoptive father, Brian Dykstra was charged with 2nd degree murder. He is currently free on $15,000 bond after pleading not guilty. Adoptive mom was not implicated.
Issac was home for only 3 months.

March 7, 2008 - Nikolai Emelyantsev:
age 14 months, of Utah died from a skull fracture, the result of what is believed to be blunt force trauma to the head. The infant also suffered from a bruised face, head, knee and anus. Adoptive mom, Kimberly Emelyantsev, was charged with one count of first-degree murder. A felony charge of child abuse was filed a day later. Adoptive dad, Fyodor Emelyantsev, was also charged with one count of felony child abuse in the case of the 4-year-old child, another Russian adoptee. For more details see the blog.
July 8, 2008 - Chase Harrison:

age 21 months, of Virgina died of heat-stroke after adoptive father, Miles Harrison forgot the child in the back of the family Suburban. It was not the father's usual routine to transport the child to daycare. He forgot the child in the back of the vehicle for 9 hours, while he went to work. The court did not find the adoptive father guilty, stating that the father had already suffered enough. The baby was born Dmitry Yakovlev in Russia's Pskov Region's children house. He was adopted by Miles and Carol Harrison three months prior to his death.
August 25, 2009 - Nathaniel Craver:

age 7 years, died of brain injuries. Nanette and Michael Craver of Pennsylvania were charged with first-degree murder for the beating death of their adopted son. Ivan Skorobogatov, renamed Nathaniel Craver was adopted in 2003, from Russia along with his twin sister. The Cravers insist that the child was self injurious. Preliminary hearings are set for March 31, 2010.
February 9, 1996 - David Polreis, Jr:
age 2, of Greeley, Colorado was beaten to death. Over 90% of David's body was covered in cuts, which his adoptive mother, Renee Polreis, claimed was due to the boys severe RAD. Renee stated that David would hit himself with a wooden spoon. Husband, David Polreis, Sr. was out of town at time of attack and was not implicated. Rene Polreis was convicted of child abuse resulting in death and sentenced to 18 years in prison. David was adopted 6 months before his death.
November 25, 1998 - Logan Higginbotham:
age 3, of Shelburne, Vermont died of massive head injuries. Adoptive mother Laura Higginbotham, stated that Logan fell and hit her head on the floor of an upstairs bedroom. It took 3 years for the medical examiner to determine whether the case was accidental or homicide. In 2004, Laura Higginbotham pled no contest to a charge of involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 1 year in prison. Logan was in US 7 months before her death.
October 31, 2000 - Viktor Matthey:
age 6, of Hunterdon County, New Jersey died of cardiac arrest due to hyperthermia after adoptive parents Robert and Brenda Matthey locked him overnight in a damp unheated pump room. Viktor was also severely beaten by his adoptive father. Both parents are sentenced to 10 years for confining Viktor to a pump room, 10 years for excessive corporal punishment and 7 years for failing to provide medical care. The sentences run concurrently. Viktor was in the US 10 months before his death.
November 30, 2001 - Luke Evans:
age 1.5 of Lowell, Indiana died of massive head injuries, shaken baby syndrome, and poor nutrition. Adoptive mother, Natalie Fabian Evans, stated that she couldn't wake Luke one morning and so placed him in a tub of water to "stimulate him" where she says he may have bumped his head on the tub. The authorities took a year to investigate the case. Evans is scheduled to stand trial for murder in October 2005. Luke was in the US 6 months before his death.
December 14, 2001 - Jacob Lindorff:
age 5, of Gloucester Twp, New Jersey died of blunt force trauma to head. Also suffered from 2nd degree burns on feet, hemorrhaging in 1 eye; bruises, and seizures. Adoptive mother Heather Lindorff, was found guilty of 2nd degree endangering, aggravated assault and sentenced to 6 years. Adoptive father, James, sentenced to 4 years probation and 400 hours of community service for child abuse. Adoptive mother claimed that the injuries were accidents. Jacob was in the US 6 weeks before his death.
August 15, 2002 - Zachary Higier:
age 2, of Braintree, Massachusetts, died of severe head trauma. Adoptive mother Natalia Higier, stated that he had fallen out of his crib or hit his head on the floor. She later admitted to tossing him into the air and he hit his head on the coffee table. Zachary sustained a bilateral skull fracture, strokes, brain swelling, and detached retinas. Natalia pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in jail with 18 months balance of sentence suspended for 4 years.
October 23, 2002 - Maria Bennett:
age 2, of Lancaster, Ohio, died from shaken baby syndrome. Adoptive mother Susan Jane Bennett, said that she had tripped while carrying Maria and had dropped her. Medical evidence proved otherwise. Susan Bennett pled no contest to 1 count of reckless homicide and was sentenced to 3 years in prison. Maria was adopted 9 months before her death.
August 11, 2003 - Jessica Albina Hagmann:
age 2, died from smothering. Adoptive mother, Patrice Hagmann claimed that she accidentally killed Jessica while trying to stop her from having a tantrum. Patrice was sentenced to probation and to 2 suspended 5 year terms.


December 18, 2003 - Alex Pavlis:

age 6, of Illinois, was beaten to death by his U.S. adopted mother, Irma, 6 weeks after his adoption from Russia. He was found to have 32 bruises, scars, and cuts. Irma had a difficult time with Alex. He banged his head on the walls, floors, and defecated and urinated on himself. Reports indicate that his injuries could have been self-inflicted. Irma was charged with involuntary manslaughter.
