A cat in gloves catches no mice  (English proverb)

The Israeli Defense Minister put it the following way: "…we have taken our gloves off…"
I immediately recalled this English proverb. 
In this respect, being one of those who suffer from Hamas rocket attacks, I cannot help expressing my viewpoint on the situation and sharing my expectations on the developments.
Yes, we are ready to patiently wait and overcome all the inconveniences of the war…
Yes, we are strong and fully back our government up in the attempt to eliminate Hamas power of launching rockets onto our heads.
Yes, we strictly follow the Home Front Command instructions (unless something unusual happens!).

However, we are NOT READY to the repetition of the following scenario:
"One day, a third party intervenes and tells our leaders: "Hey, guys, enough is enough…The so-called "Palestinians" have suffered a lot. Your military force is much more superior to that your foes possess. So, it's high time to wind your military offensive…You and they must sign a seize fire agreement and that's it…"
And our leadership would reply: "Yes, sir!"
And we'll retreat. We will claim  our victory again, we will try to persuade ourselves that we are the winners in this "survive-or-die" battle…
BUT… There is "ONE BIG-BIG BUT" in all that: when the next time comes, the other party will already be in possession Far More Sophisticated Warfare  that could cause a lot more damage, since each and every time the military capability of each party is enhancing…
So, let us finish up the solemn issue of defending our people IN FULL!!!
And DO NOT ALLOW OTHERS TO FOOL YOU!!!

Евреев бьют… Смешно сказать… Их же били всегда… Кто может забыть  лозунг "черносотенцев"Бей жидов – спасай Россию"?
А кто забыл 6.000.000 евреев, сгинувших в Голокосте в период второй мировой войны?!
Я никогда не забуду фразу, которой моя мама частенько "козыряла", когда мы жили "там", в крохотном городке на юго-западе Украины, на границе с Молдавией. Тогда она говорила значимую фразу: "Сыз зэер мылихы"- "Это – их государство" (идиш).
Когда мы приехали сюда, то все, или почти все, ощутили близость к Этой Земле, имя которой – Эрец Исраэль…
И, каждый раз, когда начинались войны на Нашей Земле, когда враги, которые окружают нас, нападали на Наше Государство, мы всегда объединялись и объединяемся  вокруг не партии или правительства, а вокруг Великой Идеи – Защитить это Государство, которое все мы считаем НАШИМ… Все мы переживаем за Каждого солдата, унтер-офицера или офицера, который пал на поле битвы, получил ранение или контузию…
Нам Больно… И мы не скрываем слез… И мы не стесняемся наших эмоций…
И мы не скрываем наших Заповедных Желаний – чтобы поскорее все закончилось Настоящей Победой, и, чтобы, конечно, не было больше жертв…
Но, конечно, мы "должны отвечать ударом на удар"…

"Вернуть тишину…" - 2014–08–02

Ранее субботнее утро… Только что закончились дискотеки… Мальчишки и девченки нехотя возвращаются после дискотек… Да… Они устали, танцуя и веселясь всю ночь…

6 утра и несколько минут…Большинство израильтян, все еще спят…
Но… Вдруг звучит сигнал тревоги… Снова летят ракеты… А молодые люди? Они не ложаться на землю и не прикрывают голову руками, как это требуют инструкции службы тыла… Они останавливаются, запрокидывая головы, приготовив камеры своих мобильных телефонов ("А, может, "повезет" снять эффектное видео…")…

Война продолжается, но…
"Мы  идем в наступление на ХАМАС, чтобы вернуть тишину израильским гражданам…" (Из обращения командира подразделения по радио к своим солдатам)

RE: An invitation from a mere Israeli citizen

Dear High Commissioner:

As a law obedient individual I do respect the United Nations Organization that has proved itself as an effective instrument for international peace all over the world.
I also can't help expressing my liking to UN Human Rights Organization that greatly contributes to promotion of rights in those corners of the world where human life is being endangered due to wars, local conflicts or other negative circumstances.
However, I wish to express my humble opinion of an ordinary Israeli.
This is my reaction to your announcement that Israel is committing a war crime by not sharing the so-called "Iron Dome" anti-missile system with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
I do realize that the population of Gaza has long belong become a hostage in politicians' dirty games. Due to that lots of people who consider themselves  intelligent and/or humane readily raise their voices in support of the oppressed and poor people of Gaza.
And you are among those who do your best to assist them.
In this respect, I would like to invite you to our place in the city of Ashdod, Israel (please see my home address, cellular phone # and E-mail below).
Since I am quite fluent in five languages (English, Hebrew, Russian, Ukrainian and Yiddish) I would be able to translate into English everything what my countrymen express in this peculiar situation being shelled by hostile rockets.
This visit might be an extra proof of your effort to end the war and long-term hostility between Jews and Arab. Moreover, you would be able to witness by yourself that the human rights of the Israelis are also being violated.

64 части моего сердца – 2014 – 08 – 03
(На момент, когда я пишу эти строки, 64 солдата и офицера отдали свои жизни в военной операции "Несокрушимая Скала")
Сегодня, как и, впрочем, всегда, мое сердце разрывается, когда я слышу имена наших Воинов, отдавших свои жизни за Мир…
Сегодня оно рвется на 64 части, по количеству тех, кто не вернется из боя…
Я думаю об их близких и родных, которые переживают труднейшие дни в своей жизни, потому что их сыновья, братья, мужья, отцы погибли в борьбе за Мир…
Они отдали свои жизни, чтобы жили мы, те, кто находится в тылу…
Мне безумно больно, потому что мое сердце разрывается, когда я слышу имена наших Воинов, отдавших свои жизни за Мир, за Жизнь…
