What can mitten tell about

Hands - is the external reflection of the human brain - there is a well-known quotation:
         "Thought lives at their fingertips"
Children with speech difficulties as a treatment and correction are recommended to developed artistic skills in handicrafts: painting, sculpture, embroidery, and knitting
When education was available only for men - girls were taught variable kinds of handicrafts and knitting
Calligraphy lessons - is the ability to think logically and consequently make judgments and narration
In Japan, before studying Sciences, students are taught the art of watercolor paintings - Sumie
Handwriting - it's the state of your IQ ...
And in the days of indiscriminate "clatter on Keyboard" and "Clicking on the file" - it is noticeable to the naked eye.

About the idea to create a website "Once upon a time mittens - Cimdu pasakas"

When I started making my first steps in Arts of knitting and crochet, my granny gave me a huge notebook as a present. I liked to copy patterns found in magazines or in a wall poster-calendar.
First – my collection was quite unpretentious and simple. But as the time went on, I was growing up, and the notebook was getting fatter fulfilling with new discoveries. It had a sequel, and is still to be continued...
At those times any fashion magazine, was scrutiny read from cover to cover, and then "cut-sewed-tailored" to myself and to my loved ones.
And every time I was trying to create a new idea, there is something different, with my own character, and are not similar to the originals.
Since then, a lot of material in the art of knitting has been overworked and the garments themselves fond their hosts in different parts of the world: in Sweden, England, Germany, Canada and Russia.
And believe it or not - bring good luck and love.
The Language of ornament is international, because the basic source of Folk Arts - is the man himself.
That is why "pattern classic" of Latvian ornaments easily compile with artistic images and ideas of Russian culture, so close to East mentality of Japanese, so comprehensive to the folks of South America, and so homelike to Scandinavians.
Today, the stores are full of books, teaching a particular type of craft. Creativity and manual labor are regaining their popularity. Folk Arts is experiencing a new Renaissance.
          Very significant and symbolic:
Maybe because of the economic crisis, and the crisis in Culture. The world of High fashion e[presses vital interest in Folk Arts. It's a kind of special status for would famous brands: Kenzo, Valentino, Sonia Rykiel, Givenchy, Dolce & Cabbana
It is a pity that the younger generation, going along the road of technical progress, looses the skills and ability to create something by themselves. It hardly comes to their mind to sew or knit something, inspired by the Catwalk ideas of Hot Couture collections.
Let's go back to basics and start with knitting mittens ?! After all, the cost is -  just a couple of yarn steins and a set of needles. And the quality is beyond comparison.
