Мазепа
Мазепа, вихований при дворі католицького короля прийшов до виводу, що треба рятувати православ'я. Він бачив, спостерігаючи вдачі польського двору, що засилля інородців згубне для українського народу, і пішов по стопах Хмельницького. Мазепа протегував духівництву, церквам і монастирям. Спочатку він справно співробітничав з російським престолом, вважаючи його опорою православ'я. Але, познайомившись з Петром особисто, побачивши його католіко-лютеранське оточення, він запитав себе: « А за що боролися?».
