Ode of Remembrance - Ода Памяти

Canons blasting off their bombs,
Heavy bullets flying,
Mothers sing melancholic songs
For sons in trenches lying.

The mighty troops march on and on,
“Heil Hitler!” they all say.
Their brethren fighting-on till dawn --
“Those Jews will have to pay”.

Perverted minds do horrid things
To humans they despise.
Alarms in humane people ring
And so the war cries rise.

Canons blasting off their bombs,
Heavy bullets flying,
Mothers sing nostalgic songs
For sons in trenches crying.

Once again the world unites
Against the Axis of Evil.
The power that drives allies to fight -
The Soviet people’s zeal.

The war rips up all things mundane
The world has gone astray,
Our soldiers still fight through the pain,
For us they have to pay.

Canons blasting off their bombs,
Heavy bullets flying,
Mothers stop their longing songs,
For sons in trenches dying.

In a world rooted in hate,
There’s lust for power and land.
The good ones realized too late
And so in battles they stand.

After years of death and dying,
The Soviet army wins.
Still the countries won’t stop vying,
No payment for their sins.

Canons stop their blasting bombs,
Ash and memories flying.
Today the world sings victory songs
And we remember, sighing.
