  THE TIME OF THE RUSSIAN BEAR               

In the  XX- th  century — in 1917, as well as  1991   Russia twice for the short time period lost its statehood, but then was reborn . The tsarist Russia break up reasons are visible and understandable: the external military defeats and internal revolutionary activity. But why did the USSR break up? They had no external war and organized internal opposition……   
Certainly, it’s very appropriate to comment here, that the West had been waging the political and economic war against us. But what of it? We preserved our statehood even in the worse conditions….
One of the main reasons of it is the formation of the opposition in the subconscious (unconscious) of the Soviet people to the sluggish single- sided  communist set. Not rejecting up to 1989 the communist values  the Soviet people  strived for the bigger freedom and living conditions improvement. They quite deserved it having victoriously ended the Great Patriotic War.
Let’ recall the social and spiritual upheaval of our people during the so-called “Khrushchev thaw”! The CPSU leadership  should have met halfway the spirit of that time and started to open the opposite doors as it was done in China at the end of the 70-s.
But the “thaw” wasn’t given a chance to get ahead and at the start of the 70-s the counter-position of the unconscious : the archaic, primitive mechanisms- the clan ones emerged.
The clan system started to develop from the top in all the strata of the society from the leadership of the CPSU to “thieves in law”. The new values- the clan values appeared. First of all- obedience, loyalty, clan solidarity.  At the same time, at the beginning  of the 70-s in the image of the little bears Cheburashka and Winnie- the- Pooh there emerged the new unconscious orientation symbol- the archetype of bear. These characters were extremely popular not only in children’s but in adult society, what proof is the emergence of numerous anecdotes. And it is only the thing that lies on the surface of the psychic that can be the true and the popular for everybody and that has become or is about to become the part of everyday life. 
Thus, in the subconscious of the Soviet people there started the process of enantiodromia (transition into the antithesis). Enantiodromia according to the analytical psychology of Jung is the autonomous natural process independent on the human will and intentions. The archetype of bear kept on growing in strength and already at the Moscow Olympic Games in 1980 the plump nice Bear flies upwards with the balloon.    
1985 . Perestroika,  20 years late only sped up the communist state disintegration process. And when in 1991 the USSR broke up without bloodshed, it was the archetype of Bear – one of the forms of the self-preservation instinct which kept us,  the Russian community  alive and gave the energy for the new life. Archetype always appears at the moment of disorientation or reorientation in the life of both individual and the people…. 
 Enantiodromia occurred in the upper stratum of our society when the Gaidar government declared the heading for the wild capitalism. The people, of course couldn’t accept it…. That’s probably why purely instinctively for the greater show of society’s “ consolidation”, Yeltsin made an attempt to make the image of “enemy” of communists. But in this he failed: the people didn’t support. 
Yeltsin himself looked like  insomniac bear: often aggressive, unpredictable, not always sober. He didn’t possess powerful intellect, but had very good intuition. That’s with the intuition help he did invent check and balance system. High rank thieves and grabbers started to hinder each other slowing down the economic breakdown. It’s known that the insomniac bear, having got the food, “sobers up” in the course of time. So Yeltsin. Having passed some way understood that his further stay  at the state leadership became pointless because he himself turned into the object of manipulation of his Family and environment.  Then he "washed hands", and handed over the reins to Putin – conscientious and very careful pragmatist. 
The archetype impact increases it is projected outside and in 2001 Putin creates the political team of the “bears” – “ United Russia”. Then the “Bears” take the 1-st place at the parliament elections. Then, D. Medvedev is elected as president of Russia (synchronic symbolical character is apparent!)  Now the archetype psychic energy is maximal. It is seen by the reaction at the aggression of Saakashvili against South Ossetia and by the dignity and calmness with which Putin and Medvedev behaved themselves, responding to the attacks of the West during the Georgian aggression.
At the first surficial glance there is no connection between the objective reality and the archetype of Bear. But the outstanding Swiss researcher K.G. Jung (1875 — 1961), discovered the other kind of connection: synchronistic, a-causal, striving for the harmonization of the objective and psychic realities. He also postulated the existence of psychic reality (the unconscious). The whole world consists not only of the outer objects, but of our psychic processes: anxieties, feelings, emotions, perceptions, i.e. ways of reaction to the outer reality. These ways by means of million times repetition of the emotions of the same type are condensed and the archetypes are nothing but  the dominant behavioral matrixes, which may be the sources of this experience as well. In the individual or people psychic they start to function in the following cases:      
1 When the consciousness a long time occupies the rigid unilateral set not corresponding to realities of an external situation;.;
2. When the consciousness is weakened or there is no accurate certain sets;
3. When existence of the individual or the people is under threat.
The archetype is transpersonal and trans- aggressive. Its nature is irrational therefore it is possible to comprehend it by consciousness only partially and conditionally. In fact the archetype is an energy of "gods", both "good", and "bad".
The mankind has been existing more than one hundred thousand years. Of them in the cultivated state — 20–30 thousand years. The survival of people in the hostile outside world depended on that, how well they were rallied and organized. The archetype "the leader – a tribe", one of forms of a basic instinct – a self-preservation instinct formed a basis of a human survival. The obligatory attribute of this archetype is existence of an image of "ENEMY", real or imaginary.

Germany , 1930-s . Archetype "a leader — a tribe". The leader — Hitler.  Symbol for mental identity of crowd: the super-person — the Aryan. The main aspect of a symbol — ruthlessness to "enemies". "Enemies": Jews, communists. The main color of psychic infection- brown. The come enantiodromia: transformation of Germany from a world aggressor No. 1 into one of the world peacekeepers. 
Russia, 1917 . Archetype "a leader — a tribe". The leaders: Lenin, Trotsky. The archetype symbol for mental identity of crowd —  the crossed sickle and the hammer symbolizing unity of interests of workers and peasants.  The main aspect of a symbol – the people, self-sacrificing working cattle. The main color of psychic infection- red. "Enemies" — exploiters of the working people. The come enantiodromia: wild capitalism of the early 90-s.   
Russia, August 1991 . The archetype "a leader — a tribe" doesn't work because of the absence of "enemies". This archetype serves the purposes of the subsequent state arrangement or a reorganization and has the psychic functioning  of primitive human collectives as its source. Then   an Old Russian archetype of the Bear worked. The bear as a a species exists 30 million years, we, people – 7 million, and the fact that we passed an evolutionary stage of bears in our phylogeny looks quite logical. This archetype has probably as the basic source   the remains of mental experience of the bears adaptation to objective reality. Among the tribal Slavs this archetype was very much in demand as a source of spiritual force. Mental communications were acquired during the totemistic ritual acts of identity with spirit of bears. The purpose of an archetype of the Bear  is survival in the hostile environment. No actual “enemies”. No mental identity exact symbols. The main behavioural aspect – clan system of functioning (Yeltsin's family), advantage of archaic clan laws over civil ones. The general behavioural dynamics is in the spirit of an insomniac  bear : survival by all means, including - criminal ones. Probable enantiodromia: transformation of Russia into the powerful, socially developed state. Probable enantiodromia: transformation of Russia into the powerful, socially developed state. 
The archetype mental energy is extremely high. Fascist Germany for a number of years almost alone (the European satellites of Germany didn't possess real military power and at the end of war came over to the side of the anti-Hitlerite coalition), contrary to laws of common sense, was at war with the western half of mankind, Japan — with eastern one.
 The archetype of the Bear doesn't operate us like the puppeteer, but powerfully influences – provides the general vital stream. Force of influence is determined by an external situation: the more threatening it is, the stronger is the archetype impact.  Our subconsciousness contains the natural unconscious mechanisms of a survival.
The archetype of the bear is the mental reality object. One can't identify oneself with an object as it took place in fascist Germany when they started growing up the artificial race of Aryans, having opened houses for pairing and incubators. The identity with object external or mental can lead to death. 
…Who or what triggers the archetype mechanisms. The self-preservation instinct! In the Russian mentality the instinct of self-preservation is symbolically represented by Vasnetsov's picture "Bogatyrs": Ilya Muromets — the peasant son, Dobrynya Nikitich — landlord’s son, Alyosha Popovic – the representative of clergy. The unity, self-preservation of the people depends on the bond of all society strata into a single unit …
We are not by ourselves: we have more than one thousand-year experience of life of our ancestors behind us. Knowing sources of historical and cultural roots, it is possible to foresee the direction of their further growth. And the understanding of the basic mental law- governed processes promotes the real investigation of the future!
P.S.: Humans are the part of nature. Will they be able someday to comprehend the whole?  Concerning us the Nature has the intentions which often do not coincide with human understanding. Who are we and what are we for? The point is still open…
