about
Boris Dudin - the host of "The Musikalnaya Gostinnaya" on Radio Prestige 101.7FM offered a marathon out of the newest professional releases by Val Belin. In first broadcasting Val demonstrated a mix of the two officially recorded DAT-cassettes in 1991-1992. Relatively speaking, there were presented two of the first solo project by Val Belin - Rhythm & Bluezzee - 91 and The Train to Nowhere - 92. Both tapes were recorded on the label Apello in Riga, under the auspices of the director of both sessions Andrew Khudov (former Val's student) As a part of the crew of that period represented the legendary saxophonist Vladimir Kolpakov (All-Russian prestigious jazz festivals participant and soloist of Laima Vajkule). In these works, Val opens his gift as a melodist, arranger and stylist, organizing the whole palette of the small group, consisting of bassist Oleg Tarkhov and drummer Valery Kamko, in the organic grooves, virtuoso unisons and impressionistic harmonies, allowing the soloists Belinov and Kolpakov to speak in a modern modal language.
Blues ballads (Blues Sacred), incendiary riffs (Axelbanty), mystical jazz-reggae (Metaphysics Miles)
New instrument Savitar created by Belinov allows him to expand the boundaries of the blues (Red House), and ancient Indian raga (Sri Dasavatara Stotra). Any composition, as a style-builder, makes it possible to imagine an entire album in the spirit of each subsequent piece.
