Sometimes, when I have no idea what to write about, I can begin with a name of a chapter of a book I’m reading and develop my comprehension of that. Today it was a chapter called “The Analysis of Complex Cases.” I liked the term “oversimplification” which was considered in the beginning of the chapter. It happens very frequently in communication between people. I see it often in myself, for example, when I try to explain something by one or another obvious reason. Although there are many obvious reasons for all sorts of actions, the chief motive usually is subtle.
Okay, let’s come back to the theme and connect it with English. I have lots of reasons to learn English, and I suppose that if other people had these reasons either, they could have learned as much as I do. I think I have to learn more about my case in order to figure out what gives me so much energy for learning. My work with journals and publishing them in the internet seems to be quite useful for that purpose (mostly it refers to my Russian journals which include about 2000 notes). I’m trying to understand some subtle motives which allowed me to quit almost everything I did before and switch completely on literature, philosophy, science, and other cognitive stuff. English is just a part of all of that. It helps me to improve my self-discipline and gives the opportunity to learn what’s going on in the world according to viewpoints available in this language.
