Эта история началась почти полвека назад.  Эра рассвета Новой популярной музыки, демонстрировала миру соцветие уникальных  групп, которым только успевали навешивать ярлыки и распределять стили - Британская волна Рока и Блюза прокачивала залы центральных Европейских городов и разрасталась головокружительными турами по Америке. Американский андеграунд стал просачиваться в Европу. Радиостанции надрывались, пропагандируя свободный Бит. Эра джаза стремительно теряла свои приоритеты, а танцевальные и концертные залы уже не вмещали молодую, непричёсанную аудиторию. Эпоха Битлс заканчивалась, а на сцену выходили профессионалы, умеющие совмещать культуру ритма с богатством Джазовых гармоний, исполняющие песни в эффектной манере и неслыханных доселе аранжировках. Группа - Чикаго, один из подобных коллективов.

 This story began almost half a century ago. The era of the dawn of New PoP music showed the inflorescence of unique groups to the world, which only had time to label and distribute styles - the British Wave of Rock and Blues was pumping rooms in central European cities and growing dizzy tours around America. American underground began to leak into Europe. Radio stations screamed, promoting free Beat. The jazz era was rapidly losing its priorities, and dance and concert halls could no longer accommodate a young, uncombed audience. The Beatles era ended, and professionals who could combine rhythm culture with a wealth of Jazz harmonies, performing songs in a spectacular manner and arrangements never heard before, appeared on the scene. Group - Chicago, one of these groups.

В Советском Союзе в то время молодёжь могла только мечтать о том, чтобы услышать по радио или на гибких пластинках, не претендуя на качество, да и вообще не надеясь ни на что... Всё было под запретом - Джаз, Свинг, Поп, Рок-н-ролл, Буги-Вуги, Блюз, Ритм-н-Блюз, Рок... Одна лишь допотопная эстрада и песни Дина Рида, о котором и в Америке никто не слышал. Да классическая музыка определённого разрешённого формата. Чудом филофонистам всё же удавалось раздобыть редчайшие копии пластинок, тиражировавшиеся самиздатом в неимоверное количество посредственных перезаписей. Одно можно сказать, что популярность ансамбля Чикаго в центральных городах СССР соперничала с популярностью таких как Битлс и Роллинг Стоунс.

 In the Soviet Union at that time, young people could only dream of hearing on the radio or on flexible plastic records, not pretending to quality, and generally not relying on anything ... Everything was forbidden - Jazz, Swing, Pop, Rock ‘n'roll, Boogie -Woogie, Blues, Rhythm'n-Blues, Rock ... Only antediluvian pop and Dean Reed songs, about which no one in America has heard. Yet, classical music of a certain permitted format. Miraculously, the philophonists nevertheless managed to obtain the rarest copies of records replicated by “samizdat” in an incredible amount of mediocre re-recordings. One thing is to say that the popularity of the Chicago ensemble in the central cities of the USSR competed with the popularity of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

Прошло много лет и во времена Интернета и Фэйс-Бука профессиональный басист из Москвы, Леонид Воробьёв каким-то образом достал или сам снял одну из песен давно им любимой мега-группы Чикаго и, договорившись со знакомыми музыкантами. нашёл студию, где решил записать и спеть эту песню, просто попробовать, что из этого выйдет...

 ... Many years passed during the time of the Internet and FaceBook, a professional bass player from Moscow, Leonid Vorobyev  somehow got or took by ear one of the songs of Chicago's beloved mega-band that he had long since, and agreed with familiar musicians. I found a studio where I decided to record and sing this song, just try what comes out of it ...

Параллельно он подумал, когда ещё будет возможность записаться давай-ка я всё засниму на видео. Получилaсь неплохая запись и всем ребятам понравилось. Решили это дело запостить в Фэйс-Буке. То что из этого выйдет не мог ожидать никто - пост с первой песней пошёл в разнос и буквально за пару недель счёт лайков перевалил за миллион.... Дальше - больше...

И вот Нью Йорк... Пишу я в Фэйс-Буке знакомому клавишнику Владу Сенчилло, которого знал ещё со времён моих гастролей по Москве, спросить - как дела, А он отвечает - я в Нью Йорке... Оказывается он играет с Леонидом и участвовал в эксперименте с самого начала. У меня глаза на лоб, говорю, а где выступаете - он в Sony Hall!!! Моему удивлению нет предела - это один из престижных залов прямо в центре Манхэттена!!!

 At the same time, he thought, when would it be possible to shoot, let’s me take everything on video. It turned out a good record and all the guys liked it. We decided to post it in FaceBook. Nobody could have expected what came out of this - the post with the first song went into the dressing and literally in a couple of weeks the “likes” passed over a million .... Further - bigger ...

And here is New York ... I am writing in the FaceBook to the familiar keyboard player влад сенчилло Senchillo, whom I have known since my Moscow tour, ask - how are things going, And he answers - I am in New York ... It turns out he plays with Leonid and participated in the experiment from the beginning. I have eyes on my forehead, I say, and where you are playing, he - at Sony Hall !!! There is no limit to my surprise - this is one of the prestigious halls right in the center of Manhattan !!!

Как можно попасть?  Билеты ещё есть... Я смотрю на интернете, а там полный аншлаг и цена билета - 150$. Нет мне не по карману, говорю... Тогда он обещает провести меня, если я подойду ко входу... На том и порешили. И вот я вхожу в зал

А там негде яблоку упасть. Загадочно светится пульт посреди зала и на тёмной сцене мигают огоньки. В зале много американских фанатов группы - они в фирменных майках с логотипом группы. Где и когда они успели их приобрести? Ведь это же самый первый концерт в Америке.

 And there is no place for the apple to fall. A mixer in the middle of the hall glows mysteriously and lights flash on a dark stage. In the hall there are a lot of American fans of the group - they are in branded t-shirts with the logo of the group. Where and when did they get them? After all, this is the very first concert in America.

За пять минут до начала вышла большая американка и рассказала краткую историю о том, как удалось организовать гастроли группы Chicagovich (Leonid and Friends). На самом деле только ребята сами знают, сколько они пережили, чтобы всё срослось на выходе. Сколько нервов и здоровья ушло на решение глобальных вопросов. Но ребята верили в успех и всё получилось!!!

 Five minutes before the start, a big American woman came out and told a short story about how Chicagovich (Leonid and Friends) managed to organize a tour. In fact, only the guys themselves knows how much they survived so that everything will grow together at the exit. How many nerves and health are spent on solving global issues. But they believed in success and everything turned out !!!

 С первыми аккордами  If You Leave Me Now у меня слёзы брызнули из глаз и они так и текли пока песня звучала и весь зал американцев подпевал слова и мелодию. Я плакал о том, что чудеса случаются и о том, что “надежда есть - компас земной, а удача - награда за смелость, а песни довольно одной, но чтоб о Свободе в ней пелось”

 With the first chords of “If You Leave Me Now”, tears spilled from my eyes and they flowed as the song sounded and the entire American audience sang along with the words and the melody. I cried about the fact that miracles happen and that “there is hope like a compass on the earth, and luck is a reward for a courage, and the song is quite the same, but that words about Freedom”

В течении звучания следующей песни перед глазами проносились прожитые годы  того времени, когда стены были высокими и не существовало никакой надежды увидеть другой берег и другую жизнь

 During the sound of the next song, the past years of that time swept before my eyes, when the walls were high and there was no hope of seeing the other shore and another life.

Сегодня я прекрасно понимаю смысл слов этих песен, а раньше английский язык  воспринимался, как небесная музыка о той настоящей жизни. где ты можешь быть самим собой и тебе не надо для этого учить другие песни, а просто петь о том, что с тобой происходит и ты проживаешь свою жизнь и думаешь своей головой. Ребята говорили с американцами со сцены на английском и извинялись за акцент. Американцы, же слушали любимую музыку из уст русскоязычных людей и их не коробил никакой акцент, потому что сердца открывались от той светлой энергетики, которую ребята создавали, потому что они были искренни в своей любви к той музыке, которую играли самозабвенно. первый раз переживая экстаз от резонанса со взволнованным залом... В зале были и русские - их было мало и они не пели, а разговаривали, видимо обсуждали феноменальный успех, своих собратьев...

 Today I perfectly understand the meaning of the words of these songs, but earlier the English language was perceived as heavenly music about that real life, where you can be yourself and you do not need to learn other songs for this, but just sing about what happens with you & you are living your life and you thinking with your brain. The guys spoke to the Americans from the stage in English and apologized for the accent. Americans listened to their favorite group Chicago music from the mouth of Russian-speaking musicians and no accent distorted them, because their hearts were opened from the bright energy that the guys created, because they were sincere in their love for the music that they played selflessly, experiencing ecstasy from resonance with an agitated audience for the first time ever, playing this songs ... There were also Russians in the hall - there were few of them and they didn’t sing, but talked, apparently discussing phenomenal success, of their fellows ..

С каждой новой песней и овациями в конце ребята разогревались и музыка звучала всё уверенней, а духовая секция просто выдувала фанфарные трели, благо все аранжировки были сработаны профессионально и грув группы становился настолько убедительным. что никто уже не сомневался, что Чикаго в зале

 With each new song and ovation at the end, the guys warmed up and the music sounded more confident, and the brass section just blew fanfare trills, since all the arrangements were professionally worked out and the groove of the group became so convincing, that no one doubted that “real” Chicago was in the hall

И вот наконец, апофеоз концерта - ребята поют песню Леонида на русском языке!!!
Леонид говорит, что слова в песне о любимой Родине и текст даже не требует перевода.
В зале просто люди и они слушают акапельный распев, и голоса разносятся по залу, попадая в каждое сердце, творя чувство мира и покоя!!! Зал не шелохнулся, притихли все, а потом нескончаемый поток оваций и теперь Леонид и друзья действительно приехали в Нью Йорк - город трудовых людей и невероятных чудес, к которым привыкаешь, живя здесь

 And finally, the apotheosis of the concert - the guys sing a song of Leonid in Russian !!!
Leonid says that the words in the song are about his beloved Motherland and the text does not even require translation.
In the hall, just people and they listen to acapella chant, and the voices are heard around the hall, falling into each heart, creating a sense of peace and tranquility !!! The audience did not budge, everything was silenced, and then an endless stream of applause, and now Leonid and friends really came to New York - the city of working people and incredible miracles you get used to while living here.

Думаю, что не раз Леонид выверял программу концерта, чтобы не терять уже завоёванное внимание и эффект присутствия. Музыка Чикаго снова уносит нас в воспоминания и огромный позитив, получаемый от того, что живёшь наполненно и безмятежно. когда всё получается и хочется об этом поведать всему миру

 I think that more than once Leonid verified the program of the concert in order not to lose the already gained attention and presence effect. The music of Chicago brings us back to the memories and a huge positive, derived from the fact that you are living in full and serene, when everything turns out and I want to tell to Everybody about it

К сожалению я не нашёл примера опубликованной этой великолепной песни. Я вас заверяю на концерте она звучала не хуже оригинала. тем не менее у нас появилась возможность сравнить ( в хорошем смысле этого слова) с концертной записью оригинальной версии, исполненной группой Чикаго.
 
 Unfortunately, I have not found an example of the publication of this magnificent song. I assure you at the concert it sounded as good as the original. Nevertheless, we had the opportunity to compare (in the good sense of the word) with the live recording of the original version performed by the Chicago group.

Надо сказать, что каждый вокалист группы леонида обладает уникальной подачей и тембром голоса. которые специально подобраны, чтобы усилить сходство. тем не менее каждый из них и конечно же Василий Акимов, сделали всё, чтобы песня обладала неповторимой харизмой и нам не хотелось вспоминать об оригинале.

 I must say that each vocalist of the Leonid Vorobyev group has a unique pitch and voice timbre, which are especially selected to enhance the similarities. nevertheless, each of them and of course, Vasily Akimov, did everything to ensure that the song had a unique charisma and we did not want to think of the original.

Насколько я помню в этой песне оригинальный гитарист группы Чикаго Terry Kath пел и исполнял kрутейшее соло на гитаре. К сожалению он безвременно ушёл и неповторимый колорит гитарных партий тоже постепенно растворился. тут ничего нельзя поделать, даже Джими Хендрикс , слушая его сказал - этот парень меня просто сдул... В нашем концерте группа оставляет на сцене сердце состава - барабанщика Игоря Джавад-заде и он отрывается по полной в длиннющем виртуозном отрыве, показывая абсолютный мировой уровень, ничуть не уступив оригиналу.

 As I recall in this song, the original guitarist of the Chicago band Terry Kath sang and performed the most hard guitar solo. Unfortunately, he left untimely and the unique flavor of the guitar parts also gradually dissolved, there is nothing you can do even Jimi Hendrix, listening to him said - this guy just blew me off ... Именно это можно сказать, наблюдая первй концерт Леонид и Друзья в Нью Йорке! Публика, начиная с половины концерта больше не садилась. Американцы стояли, как команды во время великой национальной игры - Американского Футбола. Завершающий рёв зала в конце произведения подтверждал идентичность реакции, как на стадионе

 This song is an absolute  visit card of the original Chicago band. If musicians cope with an intricate arrangement of brass and unique groove color, then these are world-class musicians. That is what can be said, watching the first concert of Leonid and Friends in New York! The audience, starting from half of the concert no longer sat down. The Americans stood as teams during the great national game - American Football. The final roar of the hall at the end of the piece confirmed the identity of the reaction, as in the stadium

 Moscow band "Leonid & Friends"  played their first US show at Sony Hall in NYC last night. Talk about  people-to-people diplomacy. American fans are going wild over  how these musicians have brought the music of Chicago back to life with  gusto, respect, and goodwill! (Photo by Chuck Coverly.) I can't wait to  see them play in LA this coming weekend.
