The expert of WWF stated the reason for invasion of polar bears on New Earth

Reduction of the area of ice and also the negligent relation of people to utilization of garbage because of what in the region the climate exchanged became the reason of mass invasion of polar bears in settlements of the archipelago of Novaya Zemlya. The project coordinator on a biodiversity of the Arctic of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Mikhail Stishov reported about it to RIA Novosti.

"All understood that it can occur. Now it is more and more bears on coast due to the lack of ice during the long periods. They come to the coast where they are attracted by human housing, especially if there the system of utilization of garbage is not really well adjusted" — the expert explained.

The number of the officials wishing to receive documents for shooting of polar bears which came to regale on food waste near settlements of Novaya Zemlya grows.

In Rosprirodnadzor the governor of the Arkhangelsk region Igor Orlov, the acting the head of Novaya Zemlya Alexander Minayev, the chief of local military unit  No. 77510 and some other persons applied for permissions to shooting.

Everyone asked for permission to production of five individuals of a polar bear.

And, regional Rosprirodnadzor supported desire of officials.

However, the head of the Federal service Svetlana Radionova listened to the experts of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the national Park "Russian Arctic", etc. — and does not allow to shoot [to hunt at] animals.
