   It was a quiet evening. Maybe too quiet. She looked into the mirror just for a second, then stood up and went to the window. She was never late. She put out the fire in the fireplace and went out…

   The taxi driver opened the door of the car. She gazed up at the stars that filled the night-sky. The sky was dark. She took a deep breath and got in. The taxi turned left and drove on.

   The conference hall was full of people of different ages and genders.

   She had been speaking to the audience for several minutes, when she heard a man’s voice. The voice was low and loud, but not too loud. She turned over to the next page, looked at it and carried on.

   The man raised his voice, so she raised hers too. Finally, she heard a round of applause. She took a deep breath.

   She left the building and threw all the papers away into the nearest waste bin.

   She got home and closed the door behind her. In the darkness of the house, she lit a cigarette and turned the music up. Someone knocked on the door…
