Every competition, every exhibition, every art biennale opens new names in the modern art. But sometimes they all allow us to see in a new way the work of already famous and eminent masters. And being interested in painting of such artists, to our surprise, we will learn they are not only masters with pencil and paintbrush, but they also are faithful sons of their small homeland, devoted sons of their people, sincerely feeling creators and easy to communicate, modest people.

We can rightly call the Honored artist of the Republic of Adyghea Aslan Kuanov as such master with pencil and paintbrush. Following his long creative path, he made an important contribution to creation of the unique exposition of the Historical and ethnographic museum of the village Dzhambachy, which appeared at the time thanks to the native inhabitant of the village, teacher and writer Eredzhib Bakhov. Together with renowned artist and master on tapestry Muharby Gogunokov, he tried to make the permanent exhibition not only impressive, but also informative. Today, his works-portraits of the locals, drawn by him with pencil, are presented as museum exhibits. There are amazing series of his works, created on the basis of the Adyghe Nart epic poetry, which every visitor of the museum can see on the top wooden panel.  And the exhibition composition of Adyghe une – Adyghe house – with home fireplace and inhabitants is worthy of the exhibition hall of the republican National museum.

Many works of the famous Adyghe artist are kept in the Art gallery of the Republic of Adyghea and presented in thematic exhibition projects. This year's exhibition, dedicated to the Day of memory and sorrow for victims of the Caucasian war, included several paintings of Aslan Kuanov. One of them - the picture "Another home" - conveys the essence of the tragedy of the distressful Adyghe people. caused by the bloody 101-year-old war. Cruel exile and loss of native house, native land led the most part of Adyghes to the foreign country which became for them subsequently "another home". This work clearly expresses the attitude of the famous in Adyghea artist to the tragic history of his people, his devotion to him, his love and sorrow.  However, not only the painting "Another home" demonstrates the commitment of the master with pencil and paintbrush to culture and history of the Circassians. Other his famous works  "Sataney", "Tuguzuk Kazbich", "Song cry" display his boundless love for his people.

The famous artist, who celebrated his 75-th anniversary last year, continues to create actively, participates in art competitions with his young colleagues and wins prizes. Most recently, Aslan Kuanov presented his painting to the creative competition "The excellent horse Bechkan", dedicated to the Kabardian breed of horses, which was held this May in the North Caucasus filial of the State museum of the Orient in celebration of the 80-th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Adyghe poet, playwright, novelist, publicist, prominent public figure Nalbiy Kuek. His unusually sunny horse, prancing at rainbow day in a picturesque meadow decorated with colorful wildflowers, impressed both the jury and visitors of the museum. Another well-deserved victory of the master with pencil and paintbrush once again confirms the uniqueness of his works, his skills and the peculiarity of his technique in painting.

In the catalog, dedicated to the personal exhibition of honored artist of Adyghea Aslan Kuanov, the Adyghe art historian, honored artist of the republic, famous artist and archaeologist Nurbiy Lovpache described the work of the master in these words:

"In painting, Aslan Kuanov kept the reached earlier in the graphics, marked in time by Aslan Kushu –as "kind, gentle humor, and closeness to true human feelings and lyricism in genre compositions, softness of coloring, fidelity to compositional laws of nature in the landscape genre, documentary of drawing in portraits. However, in comparison with earlier paintings, ...with their coloristic asceticism, there were in later works more color, solar heat, lightness, free space and plein air". .. Aslan Kuanov is a master of the nuanced harmony. Due to subtle nuances of thermally close color spots, modern rhythmic organization, he achieves a balanced-sensual imaginative penetration. This artist, like a man, is persevering and he paints his native Adyghea in all its images without loud words and affectation, modestly, carefully, expressing patriotically, historically, lyrically and aesthetically., asserting himself in this way as a significant, worthy and peculiar representative of the Adyghe national art. Such artists, as Aslan Kuanov, are revealed in the Orient usually gradually and further, their works become richer and more interesting...".

Certainly, the heritage of the Adyghea honored artist Aslan Kuanov is rich and interesting. And there are new creative ideas and plans ahead of him. But although he has already achieved a lot, he continues to work. Meanwhile, his countrymen are sincerely proud of the fact that this famous master with pencil and paintbrush is a native of their village. And every time, showing in the Historical and ethnographic museum of the village Dzhambechy the cherished folder with his unique drawings of portraits, they call him their People's artist and thank him for his huge contribution, made by him to his small homeland at the time when it needed his help.
