Social and political situation in Russia today
1. Pro-Western dissidents are people who view the existing regime in Russia as anti-democratic and consider this regime a de facto disguised dictatorship. Quantitatively, I would assume that this group is no more than 5% of the total population.?
2. Active Pro-Putin loyalists are the bourgeois-oligarchic, bureaucratic and Bohemian-cultural (at least a significant part of it) elite, enjoying the protection and patronage of the current regime. These are people who believe that the West should give Russia a worthy, respected place in the world system of Western culture (mainly Europe and the United States). These people also believe that in the military-economic sphere, Russia should have spheres of influence recognized by the West (such as in the former CIS countries, the middle and far East). Life, culture, entertainment and consumer needs of this part of the population are very closely oriented to the West. Quantitatively, I would assume that this group is no more than 15% of the total population.?
3. People associated with the Communist Party. They are mostly middle-aged and older people. It should be noted that the ideological platform of the Communist party is significantly different from the platform of its predecessor - the CPSU. In the field of foreign policy, the Communist party (CPSU), preaching internationalism, turned into a national-Patriotic party with a clear Imperial anti-Western and anti-Semitic bias. These people regret the loss of the Imperial military and political power that the USSR possessed and dream of its restoration in opposition to the West. In the field of domestic policy, the Communist party aims to restore within the Russian Federation the social structure that existed in the USSR. People belonging to this group believe that Putin and his loyalists (group 2) are traitors to the Motherland, Western agents and supporters of "world Zionism". Quantitatively, I would assume that this group is no more than 15% of the total population.?
4. The neutral, unorganized, apolitical mass of people accustomed though to abuse, but inclined passively to support and vote for any ruling regime of the Russian power. Quantitatively, I would assume that this group is about 50% of the total population.?
5. An unorganized mass of people, actively disliking the Putin's Regime and considered (as well as group 3) that Putin and his loyalists (group 2) are traitors to the Motherland, Western agents and supporters of "world Zionism". This group of people, in difference from group 3, do not consider Communism as an ideology to which Russia should go back. Quantitatively, I would assume that this group is no more than 15% of the total population.?
