Tess of the d’Urbervilles, Peterson, Jung.
The beginning of “Tess…” seemed to me not quite interesting, though I spent only a couple of hours for reading the book. It made me think about whether it’s worth to read it at all? I mean there is no need to waste 10 hours following the way which is going to be dull and unrelated to anything I do. Although I could make an exercise out of it and read aloud after the speaker because the book has a good audio version, but I still have doubts about that. I can read any other book as well. Why should I waste time for something useless? From an aesthetic point of view the book also can’t be considered as valuable—at least according to my opinion. It’s actually strange because Hardy made these novels “Jude…” and “Tess…” almost in the same time and his language has to remain the same either, but for me it’s like reading two different authors. One of the reasons of that may be my own interests. If “Jude…” relates in many ways to the course of my life, “Tess…” has almost nothing to do with that. Well, I think it’s enough to talk about this matter. If I want to read I’ll read; if not, not.
I’m coming back to my work on physical development, and it’s so bloody awesome. I like to exercise my body, gain strength, feel amazing, etc. All negative thoughts and feelings can be swept away in a few days of a thorough practice.
