Watching some random videos, found a few curious channels where young guys endeavored to criticize J. Peterson for some relatively small contradictions. I really liked to watch how they threw their rotten eggs at this virtuously flexible verbal giant, though it wasn’t harmful for him by any means. No doubt, after thoroughly analyzing his performances, it’s quite easy to find lots of contradictions in his talks, thoughts, ideas, etc. It’s also not so hard to point out his weaknesses and make a fool out of him. Of course, it requires plenty of time and special knowledge and skills. I think the criticism has a huge growing potential. Many people who are jealous to his popularity may see it as an opportunity for themselves to become popular by attacking him as severely as possible. I guess many skeptics and all other sorts of rational hyenas are sitting now in front of their laptops, listening to Peterson’s courses, taking notes, and dreaming of making a ten minute video where they will “debunk” him showing their superiority. He is a lion surrounded by bloody hyenas and they eventually will tear him apart. That’s quite interesting. When I’m listening to his lectures I feel a kind of disagreement about many things, especially after reading his really superficial book “Twelve Rules for Life,” but when I’m listening to his critics I almost always want to protect him from them. Obviously, he is not a profound thinker and his fame is based on his remarkable ability to talk convincing people that he is a good fellow: He is on a right side. He cares only about the truth, etc. But these kids, who’s read only Sam Harris’ book about free will and claim that it should and will be taught in school in the next 10 years—they are so na;ve that while listening to their critique I want to weep. But once again, I like them and wish them all the best.
