Midnight in Paris. Movie review

Midnight in Paris, which was written and directed by Woody Allen in 2011, is a subtle and stylish fantasy comedy movie that takes its rightful place in the world of cinematography and is widely regarded as one of the very best movies created by W. Allen.

From the first few minutes, moviegoers are plunged right into the atmosphere of Paris, where a screenwriter whose name is Gil, arrives with his fiancee and her parents to spend some time in a romantic place. This trip forms not only a new step in their relationships, but also shows how the characters reveal their genuine wishes, and through these wishes and ambitions, manage to move the whole story further. Besides from this, Gil unexpectedly at midnight finds out how to travel back in time, where he meets such famous masters of their craft as E. Hemingway, F. S. Fitzgerald and others, who inspire and push him to make progress on his own writing.

Two completely different worlds show Gil a variety of perspectives and brings him belief in himself as a writer. On the one hand, the present-day Paris, on the other hand, the Paris of the 1920s. What is more; romantic, sensitive Gil and his pragmatic, materialistic fiancee finally come face-to-face with each other, what promises to be a dramatic conclusion.

To sum up, high-level acting with the addition of wonderful soundtracks, a compelling plot and well-thought-out settings for all of the above are bound to attract audiences and keep them coming back for more.
