Part 2: About a happy village of Mafekhabl

Interview with the Honorary builder of the Russian Federation, Honored builder of the Republic of Adyghea, Honored builder of Kuban Askerbiy Eredzhibovich Nekhay.

- For more than two decades, the village of Mafekhabl has been developing in Adyghea, although not very quickly. It is mainly inhabited by Adyghe repatriates who returned from the countries of the compact Circassian residence to the historical homeland of their ancestors. You participated in its creation from the beginning, when the Kosovo Adyghes first came to our republic. As an experienced builder, how do you assess the appearance and growth of this unique village, the construction of which has become a significant historical event in the entire Circassian world?

A. N.: At that time, the situation was as follows. When the war broke out in Yugoslavia, two villages of compact residence of our compatriots were forced to move, so to speak, "to get away from the war" or to come to their historical homeland. There were a lot of people involved. Someone went there, someone dealt with them, someone organized their relocation. I won't tell it, because it has been known for a long time. But when the Kosovo Adyghes moved here, they were given a place of temporary residence. Then their delegation, together with the leadership of our republic and architects, visited several places to choose a site for the construction of a compact village for repatriates. But the representatives of those Adyghes chose it themselves. They were offered places both in Haverdovsky and at the entrance to the city, etc., so, several different places, which, in my opinion, were more convenient than the one they chose. However, the desire of the settlers was taken as a basis then. They chose this place and decided to establish their own village here in Adyghea, and they named it Mafekhabl, which means "Happy village".
Then our construction company built this village from the beginning. The project was made by the "Adygheyselkhozproekt" with the chief Guisa Kasseevich Skhaptsezhuk, and we started its construction. Certainly, there were a lot of difficulties in this project. Why? Because there was no electricity, no water, no sewerage system. That is, there was nothing, just a clear field. And we brought the German crane RDK-25, then there, we connected the electrical part to it, and we started on this basis. We had no time to wait for installing the power line. Why? Because the people lived crowded and uncomfortable. It is clear temporary housing is temporary and was not adapted to families to live separately. Therefore, in order for the people to move in as quickly as possible, we practically worked, as they say, day and night, and built this village.
There is important that almost all regions of Adyghea took part there. So, someone gave materials, someone offered money. And the most interesting thing was that the funding for its construction was sent by the Circassian Diaspora, living abroad. They collected money, sent it, and it was the main source of finance. An additional source of funding for construction of local treatment facilities was given by the Russian government. As I remember, this is about 9 million rubles. In addition, individual organizations also participated in this construction. So, the company "Sane", led by Murat Bibov, made build one house. He was a good leader and a person who took an active part in it.
Certainly, it was very difficult for us to build this village, because there were no roads or entrances. But it turned out, as they say, "the whole world" got this object. And the people had a well-maintained village, provided with water, sewerage, gas, access roads. There is an medical building. There is a mosque in operation. Here, I have to tell separately the story of appearance of the mosque in the village of Mafekhabl. Once I was working with documentation in the foreman's office, suddenly a guy of small stature appears. He introduced himself to me. But, to my great regret, I cannot remember his name. So many years have passed, and I have forgotten his name. He told me this story: "I was flying from Nalchik to Moscow, and on the plane I dreamed I was building a mosque in the village of Mafekhabl. As soon as I got back from Moscow, I came to see you. I want to build a mosque here". Really, I was surprised at the time, but I thought, there were a head and hands, he could build it. But the materials would require money. And he tells me: "Don't let it bother you! I will do it myself!» And he did it all himself from start to end. I wish I could remember his name (Note: Mukhamed Irugov is a farmer from the village of Islamey in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic. The mosque was built in Mafekhabl at the personal expenses of the patron from the KBR M. A. Irugov). He built this mosque. So it happened: a man appeared and said: "I will build a mosque. Give me a seat!». We gave the site that was planned in the Main plan. Such are the miracles! Here are some wonderful people!
