Unfinished 1

The day I met you I just knew
That you were not the one.
If only I could turn back time
I would say 'No! ' and run.

You never wished to tie the knot
With anyone at all.
Why would you even think of it
When I had come along?

But thirst for love had played its part
And sooner than I knew
I walked so swiftly down the isle
And pledged myself to you.

My thirst was quenched so fast and well
With your deceitful play
But then the novelty wore off
And all had gone away.

This is a long story that happened many years ago. The story is finished, but the poem isn't,  that's why I put the word 'unfinished' in the title.
