Александр
My late brother's name was Alexander. When I ordered a Yahrtzeit Memorial Wall Plaques in the synagogue, I told the rabbi that my brother did not have a Jewish name. The rabbi replied that I am wrong: Alexander is a Hebrew name and said that when Alexander the Great captured Jerusalem, he allowed Jews to observe Judaism, but demanded to install his statue in the temple. The rabbis urged not to do this: "The next emperor will come and destroy your statue. Instead, in gratitude for your mercy, we will call our children by your name." So the name Alexander became Jewish.
