For time being, machine translation becomes so perfect that the work of a literary translator in some language pairs turns into the work of a literary editor, who just polishes the text translated by an Google-translator. Actually the number of errors in the Russian-Ukrainian translation becomes minimal.
And here the question arises: why writers in Ukraine who write in Russian, but desperately need the status of "Ukrainian writer" do not resort to the author's translation of their works. Most of them know Ukrainian well enough and very often use it on a professional level. Why should they publish their works in Ukraine marked "translated from Russian"? As a matter of fact their translators play the role of editors, because now only a mentally ill translator would translate from Russian to Ukrainian by hand.
