     The khazar cities here include not only those cities that were built by the khazar architects, but also those that were built before the arrival of the khazars, were used by the khazars for their needs and tasks for a long time.
=======================

Kishen-auh **
     Also Khechne, Keshana, Checha.
     This ancient city is identified with a settlement on the territory of the village of Chapayevo in Dagestan on the very bank of the Yaryk-Su, south of Khasavyurt, almost on the border with Chechnya.
     Once upon a time there lived several families tape of orsthoi Ghecha who still call their homeland Checha.
     Starting from the 6th century, the savir-bulgars of the turkic vocabulary began to settle in this area, first representing the Kingdom of the huns, and from the 7th century the Western Turkic Khaganate.
     In the 8th century, the khazars came here to the river bank, who built a fortress on the site of a small mountain-aul settlement, where a military garrison was established, which was traditionally formed from local men, representatives of autochthonous caucasian tribes.
     During almost 3 centuries, the fortress was destroyed several times, but the khazars restored it each time, because it covered an important part of the Great Silk Road from Derbent to Eastern Europe via the Kumyk Plateau.
     During the first third of the 8th century, during the era of the arab-khazar war for control of the trade routes of the North-Eastern Caucasus, the fortress of Kishen-Auh was attacked several times by arab troops.
     In 735, the arab commander Mervan, the future Caliph, stayed here. It is said that in this city Mervan gathered Mountain kings to enlist their support in the fight against the Khazarus state.
     At this time, the commander of the Fortress was Aguk Shagin, from tape Auh, who withdrew with his soldiers to the nearest gorges and from there attacked the arabs, giving them neither sleep nor rest.
     Under the name Kishen-Auh, the fortress lasted until the end of the 10th century, when the inviolable Khazar Power fell at the touch of Prince Svyatoslav's hand.
     There was no other military garrison in the fortress. Posad artisans, who throughout the existence of Kishen-auh provided the garrison with weapons and uniforms, dispersed to other villages.
