     Muqaddasi named all parts of the city of Itil on the Volga by the name of Khazar.
     There is a text about the existence of such a city on Itil in an Anonymous work called «Genealogy of the turks», compiled in the middle of the 15th century.
     There, with reference to reliable sources, it is said that by order of Genghis Khan, Khorezm and Deshit-i-Kipchak from the borders of Kayalyk to the most distant cities of Saksin, Khazar, Bulgar, all this belongs to Jochi Khan. It also says that he is now in these countries and cities established on the throne of the khanate and on the path of rule.
     The location of the Khazar city can be identified with Itil, since it is named in the same row as Saxin and Bulgar, standing on the same river.
     Some researchers dispute this version, since the word khazars and Khazaria had not existed for 250 years by that time, and the khazar city on the Volga-river had already been forgotten. For this reason, Genghis Khan could not mention the non-existent Khazar cities. These researchers suggest looking for such a city somewhere on the route of the mongols from the Ural river to Itil.
