Very Special People

Unfortunate (or maybe fortunately) perestroika didn’t change me much. However, I could finish similar to many people with Soviet mentality- homeless or sank to the bottom of life. I did survive as I like working. However, I did work for wrong reasons and even in a very materialistic and pragmatic America I remained with Soviet mentality-non-materialistic and not using people for own profit. Probably because most of the time I used to work with special population- adults and kids. This population like to be honest or cannot be dishonest as lying is not easy skill. They do not betray or let you down, even the most low-functioning kids.
At the same time most of my colleagues and bosses did all kinds of  things for improvement of their own lives and nothing could prevent it
For example
I helped my co-worker to get employed to my second job. She made it the way that I lost most of my income on that job and could lose the first one. Still she was removed and I stayed.
However, she wanted to return and manipulating used clients for that. Clients behaved badly and was given harmful medication. At that time someone from another working place told me how that woman abused those clients. I suggested us to unite and work together in order that woman would no longer abuse any of clients. I knew that for doing that I could make trouble for me at the present place and told her
- You need to promise me going together till the end, do not change your mind in the middle
She promised that to me and she was a religious person. My bosses on my work didn’t behave good, changing sides and eventually told me openly that corporate rules are more important than clients abuse and workers from different agencies cannot cooperate to help clients. In that organization a woman-abuser bribed important people. The one who promised to stay together till the end got scared and betrayed our agreement.
The only people who behaved decently with me in that situation were my clients. But clients depend on bosses, whose intentions are rarely clients wellbeing…and nothing could be done about that.
I did try a lot-failed everything. I didn’t have Status, but I met a few people with the Status and still they also couldn’t do much. I stayed with them and relied on their support, but the end was not successful. Still I need to tell their stories.
Steven, Valentina , Sandy……and seems that is all…for almost 20 years…I'd call them Very Special People (people with Soviet mentality-people with principles). It was those, who didn’t change their core and were the same till I knew them…I still looking people like them wherever I go…
It’s sad and not adequate behavior and any psychologist quickly would put on the me some diagnostical label  as it’s very popular now
