What s Happening to Me

(translation of famous Russian song "Со мною вот что происходит".)

Of this predicament, I’m tired—
My good old friend’s not coming by,
Half-strangers entering my life
To raise disdain in my heart.

My friend, she’s lost in other crowds,
She knows too what matters now.
We fell apart  — who knows why.
We suffer both, and our souls cry.

Of this predicament I’m tired—
A new woman is now coming by,
My shoulders touching her at will,
Her every touch is meant to steal.

But wait, what’s with my dear friend?
Whom will she solemnly attend?
She, who had lost me just like that,
Will also be stealing in the end.

She’ll hesitate, but yet give in
To methods insincere and grim.
She’ll choose another one at last
With a distant look and a cold hand.

How many stagnant and fragile roles,
Unneeded friendships. I am appalled.
I wish someone had come and broke
The ties among uncanny strangers,
The distances among true friends.

Of this predicament I’m tired—
My sole mate’s not coming by,
Just strangers entering my life
To toy with me and say goodbye.

Of this predicament, I’m tired….
Of this predicament, I’m tired….
