Stone Age

There were few children on the island, despite the subtropical climate in the lower reaches of the Dnieper, in the winter cold winds blew from the glaciers and sometimes the snow fell.

Oaks and other deciduous trees circled, but laurel, yew and magnolias remained green. At this time, children often died, especially boys.

Perhaps that is why, after killing and eating cavemen, the new tribe left a part of their children.
Women are better able to adapt to new conditions, there were most of them on the island, and they took children.

In addition to several hundred new people, several dozen wolves lived on the island, who have already found a common language with humans, but have not yet become dogs.

There were several small brown bears that picked up rotting fish and acorns, as well as wild pigs, whose offspring people had taken for food. In the enclosed space of the island, these animals are accustomed to man, recognizing his primacy.
Children ran around the island without fear of them. Especially they were friends with the wolf cubs, who, growing up, everywhere accompanied them. The Son also had a wolf and a teddy bear in friends. But recently, several younger children have disappeared and hunters have not found their corpses or remains.
From the side of the forest river flowing into the Dnieper, there was a lake on the island, where in the spring water from the river came into the flood. By the summer, it warmed up, and the children bathed in it. The Son was heading to this lake with his friends, Wolf and Teddy Bear,  but recently, several children have disappeared.

The son took a light boomerang, intending to hunt ducks and geese that nested by the lake. This time there were no ducks and geese on the lake, and in the middle of the lake several swans swam and that’s all. This alerted the Son, and he shouted to the younger children so that they would not enter the water. Suddenly, one swan cried out and began to flap its wings, trying to take off.
Liana pulled herself up and howled even louder, as if he had been torn to pieces. The girls ran to the village, and a mother bear jumped ashore and growled terribly into the water. Liana was strong and a rather big oak.
The hunters came running, after them came the leader and several women. Everyone, holding the liana, pulled the teddy bear toward the shore, but on the other hand it was drawn more strongly.
Then the leader ordered to bend a small tree and tie it to the vine that held the bear. At his command, the tree was lowered, a column of water rose, and with a big wave ashore threw a huge catfish with a bear cub in its mouth.
Som beat with its tail bent, trying to return to the water, but darts and axes had already flown into it. When the catfish calmed down, the teddy bear was alive, its paw with spread claws stuck in the throat of a fish whose head was more than a year old bear. Three hunters could lie along the length of the catfish.
