Our Lady of the Disabled

The same mistakes of the mankind, some call them sins. The same stone that has outlived centuries. The same beautiful Christmas carols, but the mood is different.
A priest keeps talking about the end of the world, and the semi-beiwildered crowd keeps listening.
One lady listens to the sermon attentively, trying not to lose track of his thought.
The atmosphere is more alarming than solemn or spiritual. Even those who weren't seen as believers are now part of this crowd - lost, weary but curious listeners.
They try to think in another way, try to combine high-level physics or economy knowledge with this lengthy and meaningful speech. People look for a bit of sense, a drop of faith.
Why would these heretics or perplexed scientists ever go there?
Some of them look for peace and quiet. Some just need energy or hope.
Loneliness in like a beast, so a human being looks for a spiritual experience beyond the usual scope of senses.
They (materialists) do not perceive themselves sinful,
they are just looking for another perspective, for a touch of humanity in our hectic and sometimes dangerous, but mostly hazy and indifferent world.
Their clothes, their faces, their wallets, their sounds all melt into one.
Not each of them follows the whole ritual. Some leave before the sermon is over,
but this speech itself is a masterpiece.

A wise priest will keep on praying for materialists, their wellbeing and clarity of mind.

Faith is not a miracle - it is a glorious state of unity with the world.
