Lev Tolstoy The Wolf and an Elderly Woman

     Once, a hungry wolf was searching for a catch. Suddenly, he heard a little boy was crying in an izba* at the far side of a country lane. Also the wolf had heard the voice of an elderly woman, she said:
- If you don't stop of crying, I'll give you as a gift to a wolf.
     The wolf loved it, he didn't go along his way, he had sat on to the ground, waiting for the time when the baby will be given him as the booty, coz the boy was continuously and promisingly crying.
     The night had come; the wolf was still waiting for a catch, suddenly he had heard the woman was mumbling:
- Don't cry, my honey, I would never give you to the wolf, my pet, if it come, we'll kill it immediately, for sure, don't worry my sweet little child..."
     The wolf thought:
- It seems they say one but do another, in this countryside. Thus, the wolf went along his way, off the izba.

     Голодный волк разыскивал добычу. На краю деревни он услыхал — в избе плачет мальчик, и старуха говорит:
— Не перестанешь плакать, я тебя волку отдам.
     Волк не пошел дальше и стал дожидаться, когда ему отдадут мальчика.
     Вот пришла ночь; он все ждет и слышит — старуха опять приговаривает:
— Не плачь, дитятко, не отдам тебя волку. Только приди волк, убьем его.
     Волк подумал: «Видимо, тут говорят одно, а делают другое», — и пошел прочь от деревни.
