Lev Tolstoy Hard to Be a Horse

     Once upon a time there was a gardner who kept a horse.
In spite of the horse worked hard for him, the poor animal always slept on an empty stomach. Thus, the horse prayed God to get a new master.    
      Eventually it had been sold off and a potter became its master. At first, the horse was happy, however it should work much harder then it used to being at the gardner's courtyard. Thus, it prayed God for a new master again.
      Time was, the potter sold the horse and a skinner became its master. As soon as the horse had seen the horse skins hanging all around the skinner's court, it moaned loudly:
- God Almighty! It would be better if the gardner or the potter were my masters: it looks like I had been sold in a way as a raw skin, not as a work horse this time.

     У садовника была лошадь. Работы ей было много, а корму мало. И стала она молить Бога, чтобы ей перейти к другому хозяину. Так и сделалось.
     Садовник продал лошадь горшечнику.Лошадь была рада, но у горшечника ещё больше прежнего стало работы. И опять стала лошадь на судьбу свою жаловаться и молиться, чтобы перейти ей к лучшему хозяину. И то исполнилось.
     Горшечник продал лошадь кожевнику.Вот как увидала лошадь на кожевенном дворе кониные шкуры, она и завыла:
 — Ох, горе мне, бедной! Лучше б у прежних хозяев оставаться: теперь уж, видно, не на работу продали меня, а на шкуру.
