     Once a fox was trapped. It tore away its tail and ran off. Thus, the fox was thinking about how to hide the loss. (In fact, it is a shame to lose the tail by the fox' opinion). The fox gathered together all of the other foxes and tried to convince them to snap off their own tails.
     It said:
- We don't need this stupid thing. The tail just makes our life hard, as we are always burdened with it.
     An other fox answered:
- If you had your long tail with you, you wouldn't tell us your tales. It seems hard to be a short-tailed one!
     The short-tailed fox shut up and ran off the foxes.

     Попалась лиса в капкан, оторвала хвост и ушла. И стала она придумывать, как бы ей свой стыд прикрыть.
     Созвала она лисиц и стала их уговаривать, чтобы отрубили хвосты.
«Хвост, — говорит, — совсем не кстати, только напрасно лишнюю тягость за собой таскаем». Одна лисица и говорит:
«Ох, не говорила бы ты этого, кабы не была куцая!»
      Куцая лисица смолчала и ушла.
