Yesterday I looked at the recently taken beautiful photographs from St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg.

For some reason, there was a desire to see two paintings by Ilya Repin: "The ceremonial meeting of the State Council" and "The [political] Manifestation of October 17, 1905".

I was sure that the painting "The ceremonial meeting of the State Council" was painted after (later) the painting "The [political] Manifestation of October 17, 1905". Apparently, this belief was based on the following logic: the Manifesto of October 17, 1905 had solved important social and state problems. It was followed by calming down, political life returned to normal. The power of the renewed state machine was reflected in the painting "The ceremonial meeting of the State Council."

When the painting "The ceremonial meeting of the State Council" appeared on my computer screen, I saw that it was dated 1903. (Full title: "The ceremonial meeting of the State Council on May 7, 1901 on the day of the centenary of its establishment.")

Consequently, the painting "The [political] Manifestation of October 17, 1905" was written later (at least after October 17, 1905) ... [(1907) Improved in 1911]

It was a small discovery for me.

I did not look at the painting "The [political] Manifestation of October 17, 1905" and switched to other things.

Why did I have a desire to look at Repin's paintings? Perhaps because they, like the photographs from St. Isaac's Cathedral, are beautiful, expressive, differ in rich and varied colors; in the photos and in paintings - interesting people in beautiful clothes ...
