Energy crisis followup - motivation
With a minimum wage but a maximum trust, I started delving into the bohemian, artsy and hip Odesa. It was the beginning of 2010, and most editorials would deem art reviews to be unimportant, however having an English-speaking contributor who has a thing for art was tempting to them. I gave it a try.
Never have I seen more emotional and impulsive people, more sensitive and vulnerable personalities, more confrontation over trifles and idealism about the role of culture! It was like a rollercoaster in June - the wind in your face, your heart open to adventures, you are as naive and outgoing as a child...
Several weeks after, I started my second theatrical play project. I still remember people who started rehearsing wih me - they were creative, passionate and dedicated. Two of them, a brother and a sister, took long commuting sessions to visit a forsaken plant territory which was granted to us. I was lucky to have found soulmates among professional tribal dance performers, and they were stunningly great on stage! All in all, we've been rehearsing for two months for free. I didn't make enough as a journalist, but being part of the community was so rewarding that I was unable to complain. In addition, my articles about art gradually became more and more visible.
Working for a newspaper and running these sidekicks made me increasingly aware of how I used my time. For more than 5 years I cut off dramatically on mobile games and social media games, instead of them I would install more and more timers, reminders, the likes of Evernote and many other 'personal productivity enhancers'. They would help, but sometimes, especially in the beginning of spring and at the end of autumn, I would miss out on some events or turn up late.
Knowing it was utterly unprofessional, I had to do more and more to simply compensate for my inability to be punctual.
Later, at the end of 2012, I started having serious negotiations in the eneergy sector. Don't think I was a spoilt hip youngster. I got there by chance and I stayed there not because I was overwhelmingly talented, but on grounds of my growing motivation to become a top manager in this field soon. I started following all the groups concerning 'green energy' solutions, talking to experts, making my own calculations and sending quizzes to anyone who could possibly get involved.
This is how I started understanding both my compatriots and foreign partners better.
The main difference between investors from different countries who want to become stable economic partners of Ukraine is the level of their trust in us, their ability not only to set bar high for joint projects, as they mostly do, but the ability to truly listen to our perspective, seek common issues and values, not only make decisions on spur of the moment but to calculate our inspiring European future together.
Between 2012 and 2019 I learned more about dignity and cooperation than I ever could, as well as about alternative conflict resolution.
What started out as a venture, then turned into a significant part of my path.
I would like to thank everyone who taught me negotiation process from scratch, everyone who pushed me to discover new frontiers of communication, tech capacity and productivity.
I hope Ukraine eventually becomes one of the most efficient countries in the world, be it IT, the green energy sector or cultural and scientific integration. I really believe we will overcome all the crises and our country becomes a full member of the EU with all the idealistic goals finally fulfilled!
