Medinsky s lecture on Paul the First on the radio

Medinsky's lecture on Paul the First on the radio. A culturological essay.

Maestro Medinsky attracted my attention even when the trend became clear - the trend of the formation of the Russial criminal sub-culture.

Then the Ministry of Culture became widely known in connection with corruption scandals. Medinsky, as it turned out, was not involved in corruption.

A fund that finances film activities - with constant public noise and irritation of the widest sections of the population. An attempt to "repress" of a blogger-author of video reviews.

In the process of a wide-ranging journalistic study of the fate and activities of the historian-docent from St. Petersburg, the role of Medinsky in the movement of historical reconstruction - in the change of organizational structures and in the change of leadership - gradually became understandable. Without this high-profile criminal investigation - who would get to the bottom of this whole "history"?

Noisy discussions of dissertation processes ...

Medinsky ceased to be the Minister of Culture, but he remained one of the central figures in the "management regarding Russial culture."

He lectures on Russial history at one of the central, all-Russial, radio stations.

He is called in the media as the head of the delegation at the talks between Ukraine and Russia.

It was all the more interesting to listen to Medinsky's lecture on Emperor Paul the First while today evening, on the radio.

What is this lecture?

As follows from Medinsky's lecture, the Russian Empire was in significant, if not complete, economic dependence on trade with Britain. The subject of export was wood, hemp, lard,  the iron, the grain, raw materials for the production of fabrics (or the fabrics themselves) - for sails, - and the other goods.

This trade gave income to the Russian state and the Russian nobility.

It seems that when trade ceased, the Russian Empire faced the fact that other countries did not have or the need or the opportunity to purchase the relevant goods from it.

How did tension arise between the British Empire and the Russian Empire?

It turns out that Paul the First considered it expedient to become the protector of the Order of Malta. And Malta is an unsinkable aircraft carrier. Such words I heard in a radio lecture. Draw your own conclusion - what is the level of wisdom of Paul the First.

Next - the conflict - first with France. Then - tense relations with the British Empire. Why was the tension? When Paul the First participated in the fight against France - with the support of Britain - he considered some actions of Britain (funding?) as an insufficient ones. Then Nelson captured Malta, and did not give it to Russia. And Russia was not given an "occupation zone" in Italy, despite the participation of Russian troops in the fight against France.

And in a moment, everything has changed.

The Cossacks are galloping to India.

Paul the First is trying to establish an alliance with France and to resist to Britain.

But what about the economy?

The radio lecturer is not inclined to go into great detail about the economic consequences of such a policy.

He presents the material in such a way that a radio listener looks at Paul the First as on a person with systems thinking.

Thinking was systemic to such an extent that the Gatchina pupil was not able to understand the consequences (for himself) of the public beating of Russian officers with a stick. They were people with a slave soul - to a certain extent. But they memorized - they recalled about the public beatings with sticks.

As for the public beating of officers with sticks, Medinsky, seems, not mentioned this in his radio lecture today.

He thinks big.

How many words was said to the address of Britain.

Someone may even begin to doubt - did Britain treat the Russian Empire well?

Naturally, not a word was said in the radio lecture about the partition in 1795 of the Commonwealth. The Union State, as well as Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania - they are among oldest states of Europe with ancient democratic and civilizational institutions - ceased their (sovereign) existence.

Europe was preoccupied with the problems that arose after the change of political system in France in 1789, however, when the states (from number the oldest ones) disappeared, she shuddered with horror ...

There were speeches in the British Parliament about this.

So the British had different points of view on the Russian Empire.

But what can we understand from Medinsky's radio lecture about Paul the First, which was delivered on the evening of April 23, 2022?

Paul the First was very concerned about the position of the Russian Empire in the center of the Mediterranean, in Malta. He was very dissatisfied with the actions of Britain. And sending the Cossack corps to India was a pretty rational demonstration.

What are the consequences of the termination of trade between Russia and Britain - for Russia at that time? How should Europe have reacted to the disappearance of ancient European states from the political map? How serious was the task of possessing an unsinkable aircraft carrier in the center of the Mediterranean Sea, if such a task in this formulation was set by Paul the First?

(The Russian Empire under Paul the First was a huge state. Many decisions were made - very different. I will not deny that among the mass of decisions taken by Paul the First, something positive can be found).

After Medinsky's lecture, additional clarity on these issues did not arise for me personally.

Meanwhile, according to indirect data, the public can guess about the state of Russial culture.

Immediately after the lecture, a news release sounded. It turns out that a mother has been detained in a provincial town on charges of killing two of her children. So, does the trend towards mass murders within the family continue?

However, nothing was reported - whether the bodies were dismembered. In the story with an associate professor from St. Petersburg - a dismembered body was mentioned there ...

Such a lectures ...
