Vienna – the capital of Austria or Where homeless live in Austria

After a month's stay in Ukraine, we flew to Vienna, a wonderful and amazing city which millions of people from all over dream of visiting.
“A trip to the capital of Austria—the majestic Vienna—is happiness and pleasure! The city of museums, parks, palaces, fountains, classical music, Mozart and Strauss, coffee and apple strudel, balls and Christmas markets that will enchant and make every traveler fall in love.” This is how Wikipedia characterizes this Austrian capital! When we bought tickets for a flight from Vienna to Washington, we were told that we would have to spend the night there, because the flight would take place only the next morning. We were actually delighted! What luck! Our dream came true!
After arriving in Vienna, we quickly got to the hotel, which, fortunately, was right across the road from the airport. In the hotel lobby, we exchanged a few American dollars to Austrian currency. We expected to spend a wonderful evening in the capital. Having received the key to our hotel room, we hurried up to leave our things and go on a tour of the city. We opened the door and entered the room. And then we were dumbfounded and stunned! Suddenly the TV turned on itself, and we, that is, the Rabinovich family, were congratulated on our successful arrival! We were at first confused, but then we were delighted to have received such a greeting in English! It was very, very nice. We were well-received in Vienna.
The room and furniture were, in our opinion, decent. We decided to continue the glorious journey. We went downstairs, found a bus stop and asked the driver if we could see the sights of Vienna from the window of his bus. The driver answered yes. Where we were going, we had no idea. Before leaving the hotel, we decided to take a video camera, a camera (for photography) and the US dollars left over from a trip to Ukraine. Of course, we took some Austrian money, hoping to have a bite at some inexpensive restaurant.
In the bus, we looked around, hoping to see the famous places. But alas! The bus was racing by everything too quickly—streets, houses, and trees flashed, and lanterns were burning. We did not have ime to see anything except the road.
We drove around for about 30 minutes, and then the driver announced that this is the final station, and all the passengers left, going onto the street. We look around. What do we see? It was a city park, dark, and no one around. And only we, two American citizens, were left standing here, like two pillars. And what did we do?! Do you think we turned around and returned to the bus stop? No, we decided to take a walk in the park and see what's there! We went and saw nothing interesting. Only some people were sitting the benches and dozing.
We continued walking and no one—to our relief—paid us any attention! And then it dawned on us: these were homeless people resting; they did not need to have anything to do with us! We quickly turn around and left this crooked place, suddenly remembering that we had money, documents, airplane tickets, a video camera and a camera!
We decided, nevertheless, to continue our acquaintance with the city and walked along the street, which was narrow and long. On the way, we looked at restaurant menus, which convinced us that the food there was very expensive. Finally, we found a small cafe in which we decided to stop and grab a bite. I will only say that the food we were served was warmed in the microwave, half-baked and not tasty. We left hungry and upset because we had spent money for nothing.
Barely catching our breath, waited for the return bus to go to the airport. Apart from us, there were no other passengers at this late hour. Arriving at the airport, we went to the hotel.
In the morning, we decided to eat breakfast in the restaurant. And so enjoyed our meal. We had never seen such many different foods! Having eaten, in high spirits, we flew to Washington. At customs, we were greeted as Americans who returned home: "Welcome home to the USA!"

Washington – the capital of USA
Travelling from Ukraine to America, continued.

We flew into Washington from Vienna. My husband and I dreamed of looking at the capital of the United States, taking even a little stroll around the city and looking at the sights. We flew in the evening, settled ourselves in our hotel and decided to walk, have dinner and look around. What can I say? Of course, Washington looks very good at night. We enjoyed walking around near our hotel and got up early the next day to walk along this long street. But they did not get much pleasure, because the heat was hot and there was a lot of humidity.

We walked along this street. Sweat was pouring down and we stopped frequently. With difficulty, we reached the Capitol, walked a bit, admiring this majestic building and returned to the hotel. We walked about two or three blocks before we were exhausted. So, we hailed a taxi and continued the rest of the way by car. But, we were able to see the city from the taxi window. We were glad that we were in the US capital. In such a mood, we took the bus and went to Columbia. The journey home was long and hard, although the bus was equipped with everything necessary for passengers.
We arrived late in Columbia. Therefore, our son Vlad did not wait for our arrival and went home. A little surprised, we phoned him, waited for him and, at last, were at home.
