Analysis of the prayer Our Father

The author has made a thorough thoughtful analysis of the only prayer of the New Testament. A reasonable approach to the perception of the Biblical text led to a completely unexpected conclusion, which is diametrically different from the official position of the Christian doctrine.

The text of the prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven!
Hallowed
be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, as it is in heaven and on earth.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts,
Just as we leave our debtor;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.

Introduction
What to count “Our Father” – the Lord's Prayer or a funny excerpt from national mythology? Let's imagine that this is an appeal to a Higher Being and try to analyze it critically. Here, however, there is one big problem, because analyzing biblical texts is an extremely difficult task, since there are contradictions in the Bible on the most fundamental issues. Here are some examples.
Are images allowed?
; Yes:
"And the Lord said to Moses, Make yourself a serpent and put it on a banner" (Ch.21:8).
; No:
1. "lest you become corrupted and make for yourselves statues, images of some idol representing a man or a woman" (Deut. 4:16),
2. "You shall not make for yourself an idol or any image of what is in heaven above, and what is on the earth below, and what is in the water below the earth" (Isaiah 20:4)
How many gods are described in the Bible?
; One:
"Listen, Israel: the Lord, our God, the Lord is one" (Deut.6:4).
; Lot:
1. "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30);
2. "Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19);
3. "And God said, Let us make man in our image in our likeness" (Gen. 1:26);
4. "And the LORD God said, Behold, Adam has become like one of us, knowing good and evil" (Gen. 3:22);
5. "The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one" (John 5:7).
Does Jesus bring peace to people?
Yes:
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God" (Matthew 5:9).
No:
1. "Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword, for I have come to divide a man with his father, and a daughter with her mother, and a daughter-in-law with her mother-in-law. And man's enemies are his household" (Matthew 10:34-37);
2. "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30).
Who turned David against Israel?
; God (2 Kings 24:1);
; Satan (1Par.21:1).
Who killed Goliath?
; David (1 Sam. 17);
; Elhanan (2 Samuel 21:19).
Is God omnipresent?
Yes:
;The eyes of the Lord are in every place: they see the evil and the good" (Prov.15:3), (Ps.139:7-10), (Job 34:22-21),
; "For our God is in heaven and on earth, in the sea and in all the abysses" (Ps. 134:6).
; No:
"and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of paradise" (Gen.3:8), (Gen. 11:5), (Gen. 18:20-21).
Did God promise to drive out the Jebusites?
; Yes:
"This is the proof that the living God is truly with you, and that He will defeat your enemies. He will defeat the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Gergesites, Amorites and Jebusites and force them to leave this land" (Nav.3:10).
He promised, but did not drive them away:
"But the army of Judah could not expel the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so the Jebusites still live among the people of Judah in Jerusalem today" (Nav.15:63).
Does God do evil?
Yes:
1. "Thus saith the LORD: Behold, I am preparing evil for you and plotting against you" (Jer. 18:11);
2. "I form light and create darkness, I make peace and cause calamities; I, the Lord, do all these things" (Isaiah 45:7);
3. "Who is it that says, `And that happens, which the Lord has not commanded to be'? Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that calamity and prosperity come?" (Jer.3:37-38);
4. "... and he said, This is the calamity from the Lord! What can I expect from the Lord in the future?" (4 Samuel 6:33).
; No:
1. "His works are perfect, and all his ways are righteous; God is faithful, and there is no unrighteousness (in him); He is righteous and true" (Deut. 32:4):
2. "God is not tempted by evil and does not tempt anyone himself" (James 1:13).
God made man perfect:
Yes:
"And God said, Let us make man in our image in our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over all the reptiles that creep on the earth. And God created man in his own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them" (Gen. 1:26-27)
; No:
1. "15 For I do not understand what I am doing: because I do not do what I want, but what I hate, I do. 16 But if I do what I do not want, then I agree with the law that it is good, 17 therefore it is no longer I who do it, but sin that lives in me. 18 For I know that what is good does not live in me, that is, in my flesh; because the desire for good is in me, but to do it, I do not find it. 19 I do not do the good that I want, but I do the evil that I do not want. 20 But if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me" (Rom. 7:15-20);
2. "If you abide in my word, then you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free" (John 8:31,32).
; Depends on the circumstances:
"Therefore, if the Son sets you free, then you will be truly free" (John 8:36).
Can God get tired?
; Yes:
1. "Because in six days the LORD created the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and rested" (Isaiah 31:17);
2. "And God finished on the seventh day his works that he had done, and rested on the seventh day from all his works that he had done" (Gen. 2:2).
; No:
"Have you not heard that the eternal Lord God, who created the ends of the earth, does not tire and does not faint?" (Isaiah 40:28).
This is only a small part of the irremediable internal contradictions that are present throughout the text of the Bible. But there are still contradictions between the Bible and ordinary everyday experience. Take for example:
The resurrection of the corpse of Lazarus, rotting for 4 days in a hot climate, who, after such a miraculous resurrection, for some reason did not die immediately from anaphylactic shock, but left quietly and imperceptibly, without leaving his delight about this magnificent act. His relatives and friends, apparently, also took this Miracle for granted and preferred not to tell anyone, and even did not make sketches anywhere and did not order a thematic bas-relief (John 11:43),
; a talking fireproof fig tree bush (Exodus 3:2).
There are also contradictions to scientific data:
; The earth is only about 6000 years old. When believers are shown the remains of dinosaurs that are millions of years old, believers say that God created these remains to "strengthen our Faith",
"And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the water, and let it separate the water from the water... And He separated the water that is under the firmament from the water that is above the firmament. And he called the firmament heaven" (Gen. 1:6-8),
"And God created two great luminaries: the greater luminary to rule the day, and the lesser luminary to rule the night, and the stars; and God placed them in the firmament of heaven to shine on the earth, and to rule day and night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning: the fourth day." (Gen. 16-18), and so on, and so forth.
The biblical texts are not confirmed in numerous archaeological excavations, including those conducted in Jerusalem for decades, as well as historical evidence of historians of those years. There is not a single sketch of biblical scenes, bas-reliefs, sculptures, rock paintings from contemporaries. For example, a potential contemporary of Christ, Pliny the elder, also left no memories of Christ. There is nothing at all.
Well, just reading before going to bed:
"it is not I who command those who are married, but the Lord [contradicts John 8:16 – approx. author]: a wife should not divorce her husband, – if she divorces, she must remain celibate, or reconcile with her husband, – and a husband should not leave his wife. But I say to the rest, and not the Lord: if a brother has an unbelieving wife, and she agrees to live with him, then he should not leave her; and a wife who has an unbelieving husband, and he agrees to live with her, should not leave him. For an unbelieving husband is sanctified by a believing wife, and an unbelieving wife is sanctified by a believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy. If an unbeliever wants to get divorced, let him get divorced; a brother or sister in such cases are not connected; the Lord has called us to peace. How do you know, wife, if you won't save your husband? Or, husband, how do you know if you won't save your wife? Only everyone act as God has determined for him, and everyone as the Lord has called. So I command in all the churches.
If anyone is called circumcised, do not hide; if anyone is called uncircumcised, do not be circumcised.
Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but everything is in keeping the commandments of God. Everyone stay in the rank in which he is called. Whether you are called a slave, do not be embarrassed; but if you can become free, then use the best. For the servant called in the Lord is the free of the Lord; likewise, the one called free is the servant of Christ" (Corinthians 7:10-22).
Within the framework of our critical analysis, it is also important to note that biblical ethics is very different from the generally accepted human ethics, since "God is love" in the Bible:
He calls for the genocide of entire nations: "And in the cities of these nations, which the Lord your God gives you to possess, do not leave a single soul alive, but put them under a curse: Hittites and Amorites, and Canaanites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites, and Gergesites, as the Lord God commanded you yours" (Deut. 20:16-17);
He plans in advance the extermination, enslavement and fleecing of an entire nation in favor of the Jews:
"And the LORD said to Abram, Know that your descendants will be strangers in a land not their own, and they will enslave them, and they will oppress them for four hundred years, but I will judge the people with whom they will be enslaved; after that they will come out with great possessions" (Gen. 15:13-14);
;... In the fourth generation they will return here: for the measure of the iniquities of the Amorites has not yet been filled" (Gen. 15:16).
Biblical logic also contradicts both formal and ordinary everyday logic, besides, there is not even the word "logic" in the Bible. There are also no derivatives: "logical", "logical", "logical". From this we can conclude that the texts of the Bible, at least, suffer from incompleteness, with all the consequences.
As a result, the biblical version of wisdom and reason is very different from the human one. We see that the ethical categories of evil and good go through life together, it is even fixed in folk art: "what is good for a Russian, then death for a German," for example. It often happens that what seemed good turns out to be evil over time, and what is good for one is evil for another. In the Bible, everything is primitive to the point of insanity:
"and he said to the man: Behold, the fear of the Lord is true wisdom, and the removal from evil is reason" (Job 28:28).
The Biblical texts should also arouse interest from the side of the Law:
"Therefore kill all the male children, and all the women who have known a husband on a man's bed, kill; and all the female children who have not known a man's bed, leave alive for themselves" (Chis.31:17-18).
It is obvious that such appeals from the Old Testament fall under the signs of Article 354 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Public calls to unleash an aggressive war), Article 357 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Genocide), Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity) and the Federal Law "On Countering Extremist Activity".
"and when you go, you will not go empty–handed: every woman will beg from her neighbor and from her who lives in her house things of silver and things of gold, and clothes, and you will dress your sons and your daughters with them, and wrap the Egyptians." (Isaiah 3:21-22) - v. 210 Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Organization of a criminal community (criminal organization) or participation in it (her).
Here's how, how to explain the fact that the Bible has not yet been banned, recognized as extremist literature?
For these reasons, it is really not clear how to analyze such texts. Let's try to use elementary logic with links to the original source. Even if there is a god, why should we, in the process of perceiving His Word, give up what He Himself gave us – logic or ethics? In any case, we do not fantasize, but refer exclusively to texts from Holy Scripture, mainly in Synodal translation.
Analysis
Our Father, who art in heaven!
There is a rather bold direct appeal to a certain Father who lives in mysterious "heaven". Where is this heaven? It is important for us that they are somewhere at least not on Earth, which is already alarming. Who could it be? This is clearly not a biblical God, because it follows from the Bible that God is everywhere, both underground, and on earth, and in man, and in heaven – everywhere:
"Can a person hide in a secret place where I wouldn't see him? – says the Lord. Am I not filling heaven and earth? – says the Lord (Jer. 23:24).
; "Lord! You have tested me and you know. You know when I sit down and when I get up; You understand my thoughts from afar. Whether I walk or rest, You surround me, and all my ways are known to You. There is not yet a word on my tongue, but You, Lord, already know it perfectly. From behind and in front You embrace me, and You put Your hand on me. Your knowledge is wonderful to me - it is high, I cannot comprehend it! Where will I go from Your Spirit, and from Your face where will I run? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; s o y d u l I v p r e and s p o d n yu yu (discharge of the author) - and there You are. Will I take the wings of the dawn and move to the edge of the sea, and there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will hold me. Will I say: perhaps darkness will hide me, and the light around me will become night; but the darkness will not darken from You, and the night is as bright as day: as darkness, so is light." (Ps.138:1-14).
; "The eyes of the Lord are in every place: they see the evil and the good" (Prov.15:3).
; "For my eyes are in all their ways; they are not hidden from my face, and their unrighteousness is not hidden from my eyes" (Jer. 16:17).
"Can a person hide in a secret place where I wouldn't see him? Says the Lord. Am I not filling the sky and z e m l u (discharge of the author)? says the Lord" (Jer. 23:24).
"And there is no creature hidden from him, but everything is naked and revealed in his sight: We will give him an account" (Heb. 4:13).
"God is "over all, and through all, and in all of us" (Eph.4:6), and so on.
Here is someone who lives, again, it is only in "heaven". What are the options? I can only think of the biblical Devil, if you believe in him, of course.
Hallowed be thy name
God created the very concept of holiness, he is already holy. And here it turns out that while this mysterious Father is not holy, the hope is simply expressed that he will be holy sometime later. The immutability of the sanctity of the Father's name is questioned. We wish each other long life or a good husband, or success in studies and work because it's not obvious, it may or may not happen. But it would never occur to anyone to wish for something that exists unambiguously, regardless of our will and desire, for example, it would never occur to anyone to wish that "The Earth did not fall into the Sun" or distant quasars continued to shine in the Universe, or that there were four seasons in a year, and so on.
Moreover, it is impossible to wish for the future what already exists, and, in addition to the will of the speaker, isn't it? Therefore, here we are definitely not talking about the Lord God – the Holy True Creator of all living things from the Bible:
"For I am the Lord your God: Sanctify yourselves and be holy, for I am holy" (Lev. 11:44),
"Who, like You, Lord, is among the gods? Who, like You, is majestic in holiness, honored with praises, the Creator of miracles?" (Exodus 15:11),
;The LORD of hosts will be exalted in judgment, and the Holy God will show his holiness in righteousness" (Isaiah 5:16),
"Thus saith the LORD God: When I have gathered the house of Israel from the nations among which they are scattered, and I will show my holiness in them before the eyes of the tribes, and they will dwell in their land, which I gave to my servant Jacob" (Ezek.28:25),
; "Holy Father" (John.17:11),
;Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty" (Rev 4:8),
The Lord Jesus Christ is called the "Holy Son" (Acts 4:27), "Holy and Righteous" (Acts 4:27).3:14).
thy kingdom come
It turns out that the kingdom of this unknown Father has not yet come, and the worshipper asks, expresses the hope that it will someday "come." Who are we talking about? Definitely not about God, because:
"The Lord has set his throne in heaven, and his kingdom possesses all things" (Ps. 102:19),
;Thine, O Lord, is greatness, and might, and glory, and victory, and splendor, and all that is in heaven and on earth, Thine, O Lord, is the kingdom, and Thou art above all, as the Ruler" (1 Par.29:11),
"The Lord God Almighty, who was, is, and is to come" (Rev 4:8).
Now the question is: what kind of God is this, whose "Kingdom" has not yet come and who is not yet holy (not deified)? We know that God is omnipresent, he is everywhere and in everything, he is timeless, he is infinite, the real God, if He exists, created everything around and, accordingly, is present and represented in every detail. This Is his Creation. The question of the kingdom is not even worth it. He created the very concept of Holiness and the Kingdom. And then an appeal to some Father with a wish to see these very Holiness and Kingdom in the future.
It turns out that the beggar in this prayer turns to an unknown Father, the sanctity of whose name is not obvious, about whom only what is known so far is that he "is in heaven." We recall that, for example, the Devil has at least been seen more than once in these very "heavens" (Luke 10:18). Of the other candidates, we have the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ. But the Holy Spirit is feminine and cannot be a Father in principle. And Jesus Christ is not called Father anywhere in the Bible. Therefore, the first candidate remains – the Devil...
