A 14-year-old boy held on suspicion of causing the death of a seven-year-old girl in a hit-and-run crash involving a motorbike has been released on bail.

in Walsall
at about 19:00 BST
on Thursday
[27.07.2023]
and
died in hospital.

A boy
was arrested later the same day.

West Midlands Police
said

two motorbikes
found abandoned after the crash would be forensically examined.

Katniss' mother paid tribute to her "star" on Friday.

In a tribute posted on Facebook, Ms Seleznev said her heart was bleeding and her soul aching.


"God took her away too young and fragile," she said.
"I don't have strength and I don't want to say goodbye to you, my star."

"Her mother, Tsvetelina, shared an emotional tribute following her the tragedy.

She wrote on Facebook: ‘God took her away too young and fragile.

‘I don’t have strength and I don’t want to say goodbye to you, my star. How to let you go, my heart is bleeding, my soul is aching. Who will take care of you now up there my angel.

‘Every day she told me, “I love you mum, you are the best mother and the most beautiful because you take care of me and do everything to make me happy”.

‘You became a star in the sky. [You] cried that one day mum would be a star in heaven and you would be left without me.

‘You were so strong, healthy and smiling, always in the three races. Why couldn’t you fight for your life. Your dad was calling you, “open your eyes Katnis, dad is here, open them” but you closed them forever.

‘Rest in peace sweet treasure! May your path be bright so you are not afraid in the dark without mum and dad!’"

said investigations continued
and
asked anyone with information
to contact police.


"We have recovered two motorbikes
and they will now be forensically examined as part of those extensive inquiries.

"And at this awful time our thoughts remain with the family of Katniss, who are being supported and have asked to be left to grieve in private.

"I would also like to extend my thanks to all those people who have already come to us with information - it is truly appreciated."



Crowds - including children - gathered at the scene on Friday to leave flowers, toys and other tributes.
