 "West African defense chiefs have agreed on an intervention plan in Niger; the rebels were given until Sunday, August 6, to restore order in the country, otherwise troops could be sent there, Reuters reported.

 The Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) has imposed sanctions and warned of the possibility of a forceful solution as a last resort if deposed President Mohamed Bazum is not restored to power.

 ECOWAS does not disclose the details of the plan, the decision on the possibility of intervention will be made by the heads of state of the bloc, said ECOWAS Commissioner for Peace and Security Abdel-Fatau Musah.
