Before the Empire

She was a small town girl. From early childhood all she even heard was that women are born to get married, have a family and bring up children. Her mum was like that. She put aside all of her dreams just to be a mother and a wife. Cybil was told that she wasn’t capable of anything big. She would always live in that small town, marry someone, who was nobody, and she would be nobody as well.
Nobody realized that she was too ambitious to be just a wife and a mother. She wanted to be someone, someone people would look up to. She had so many ideas.
She was an outcast at school. She wore braces and guys bullied her. She had big glasses too, those ugly ones. She looked ridiculous in them. As they didn’t have enough money, she would wear shabby clothes. All of that didn’t bother her as she had a goal. She wanted to leave that town and never come back. She would wipe that place from her memory, together with her family. She would become whoever she wanted.
While a teenager, she was slowly becoming an attractive one. Boys started to notice her and wanted to be with her. She looked at them with contempt. Only several years ago they bullied her and now wanted to be with her.
One of the bullies decided to ask her to prom. She agreed as she had a plan. She would play a trick on him. Guys usually expect something from girls on prom night. She understood it perfectly well. All she ever thought of was revenge. So, this was what she did. She handcuffed him to the bed. He was naked and had a blindfold. She told him to tell her in detail what he would do to her and started filming. She wanted him to be artistic. He did everything she wanted. She filmed it all and send it to the whole school. She left him like that on the bed. There was one thing more. She wrote on his chest with her red lipstick: ‘I’m a bully, I deserve it’.
That was the beginning of her new life. She packed all her things and left for college. While at college, she worked as a waitress and went to psychology classes. She wanted to understand people, what was their driving force. As she worked as a waitress, she saw different people, read their emotions, and slowly she realized that she could even predict what they would order and how they would behave. That was a wonderful feeling.

Cybil wanted it all: good life, a prestigious job, expensive cars and a house near the ocean. She worked hard to achieve her goals. She wanted to be noticed for her achievements. And yet, she understood that it was a men’s world. What men didn’t understand was that it would be nothing without a woman. Women gave birth. If there were no women, there would be no men. Behind every powerful man stood a powerful woman.
Men needed that power to feel superiority. But were they really controlling the situation? That was really doubtful.
Cybil started dating men, who were rich and powerful.  They treated her as if she was a doll or an escort. Nobody wanted to see in her the wise and smart woman that she was. She understood that men were afraid of that strength and that was the reason that they wanted to diminish her significance. It was the 21st century, but men were still pushing the buttons and didn’t want to share the power that they had.
Cybil thought that there should have been equality between genders. People should be evaluated by their skills and knowledge but not gender. Why couldn’t a woman be a good president? Women would definitely change the world for the better if they were in charge.
There were always obstacles on her way. There were always men who were promoted, and she was again and again left behind, although she was way better at the job. She was furious. Her anger grew with every day. She hated men who were powerful and wealthy. They didn’t want to share their pedestal with a woman, even if she could change the things and make things better. They wanted to stand there alone and look down on those who would never get the equality they deserved.
Cybil worked hard, harder than anyone. She knew that there would come the time when she would rule and ruin one of those men. That was the reason she went to the interview at Teddy’s company. She heard that he was a greedy person. All he ever wanted was to earn money for himself. He didn’t pay a decent salary to his employees. So, it became her mission to get close to him and destroy him. And that was what she did. When the doors closed behind Teddy, and she started to laugh, it was the first time in her life that she felt that she did the right thing. She did it not only for herself but for thousands of women were unappreciated. It was her moment. She felt triumphant.  But that was just the beginning of her journey.
