 In the central square of the city in front of the church, Sebastian Acevedo is burning.

 He set himself on fire as a final gesture of desperation after the carabinieri kidnapped his daughter and son, who were participating in protests against the dictatorship and the authorities did not acknowledge the fact of their detention.

 While their father was looking for them, they were tortured and they had every chance of ending up on long lists of “missing people.”

 After this event, which caused an international scandal, they were released and the daughter managed to hug her father, who was dying in the hospital from burns.

 This is how a civil movement against torture was born in Chile, which was named after Sebastian Acevedo.

 I remembered this story when it became known today that near Kiev, in the square in front of the courthouse, a Ukrainian woman committed an act of self-immolation due to the forced mobilization of her husband.

 Now she is in serious condition in a Kyiv hospital, she has 80% burns on her body.

 Two twin regimes, forcing their desperate citizens to burn in public squares to save the lives of loved ones."

 This world, its barbaric structure, are worthy of only one thing, condemnation and contempt, when will this nightmare end, when will we read normal, human news, and not these constant bloody showdowns!?

 There is no longer any spiritual strength, hearing and reading this has worn my soul to bits, one thing consoles me, gives me hope - all this is not in vain, every martyrdom brings us closer to a new just society without greed and vices... but how difficult it is to climb this  the top, the golden chains on the legs do not give, they hinder, they pull down, into the abyss, into barbarism...
