What should have been a fun summer holiday event for children descended into horror when a knife attack interrupted a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop.
Three children were killed and eight others injured, with five left in critical condition.
Police said two adults were also critically injured while trying to protect children from the attacker.
The stabbings took place on Monday 29 July, at The Hart Space, a community hub and pregnancy care centre on Hart Street in Southport, around 20 miles north of Liverpool.
Hart Street is a largely residential area around a mile from Southport station.

Hospital issues update on condition of injured children
One of the hospitals treating some of the injured children from yesterday's knife attack
has shared an update
- acknowledging that a third young girl had died
(Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine)
and confirming that two others are in a critical but stable condition.
"We can confirm that seven children were brought to Alder Hey following the heartbreaking incident in Southport yesterday,"
a statement read.
"Sadly, despite all our efforts one child has since died,"
it added, referring to Alice Dasilva Aguiar
(see 3.16pm and 1.51pm posts).
"The remaining children are continuing
to receive treatment with two remaining in critical care but currently in a stable condition.
"The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Alder Hey remain with the children, young people and their families involved in and all those affected by yesterday’s incident.

Names of three children killed in attack confirmed by police
Merseyside Police have confirmed the names of the three girls who were tragically killed in the Southport stabbing attack.
They are six-year-old Bebe King, seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, and nine-year-old Alice Dasilva Aguiar.

School pays tribute to 'most wonderful shining star'
Marshside Primary School in Southport has remembered its pupil Bebe King as "one of the most wonderful shining stars".
Six-year-old Bebe was one of the three children killed in the horrendous attack at a Taylor Swift-themed holiday club yesterday.
"Words cannot do justice to describe the grief and upset our Marshside community are feeling today," headteacher Natasha Sandland said.

Leanne Lucas was one of the organisers of the Taylor Swift dance event at The Hart Space on Hart Street.

Colin Parry, a local business owner, was one of the people who called the police, and described the aftermath of the knife attack as like a "scene in a horror movie".
Mr Parry works at Masters Vehicle Body Repairs, a car body shop that neighbours The Hart Space on Hart Street. He believes he saw the perpetrator in the lead-up to the stabbing.
He described seeing a taxi drop a male passenger off at his address, which had been the incorrect location, before losing sight of the man and catching the tail end of the taxi driving off.
He added: "It's like something from America, not like sunny Southport."
"It was definitely intentional."

Shortly after, parents who came to pick their children up just before lunchtime were screaming in distress, he added."
Ryan Carney, who lives with his mother on Hart Street, said he rushed home from work to be with her after she saw the commotion.
Mr Carney said his mother Hayley saw a "woman screaming saying she couldn't find her child".
He added his mother saw emergency services "carrying out a few bodies of girls... in white, but covered in red, covered in blood", adding that she could "see the stab wounds in the backs of the children".

How emergency services responded to 'ferocious attack'
At 11.47am, Merseyside Police received an emergency call reporting an incident at an address on Hart Street.
Just one minute later, at 11.48am, the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) responded after a call reporting the stabbings.
Emergency services quickly declared a "major incident", as 13 ambulances and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene.
Dave Kitchin, head of service for the North West Ambulance Service in Cheshire and Merseyside, later added that paramedics encountered a "devastating scene" when they arrived.

Chief Constable of Merseyside Police
Serena Kennedy
said when officers arrived they were "shocked to find" several children had been "subjected to a ferocious attack and had suffered serious injuries".
"The offender, armed with a knife, walked into the premises and started to attack the children inside," the chief constable added.
Boy, 17, arrested
The police said a 17-year-old male from the nearby Lancashire village of Banks, who was born in Cardiff, had been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, and taken into custody.
The attack is not currently being treated as terror-related, police added.

The King and Queen are among those who have sent their "deepest sympathies" to the families of those affected.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper also said she was "deeply concerned" about the "very serious incident", while the prime minister provided a clip to broadcasters saying the whole country was "shocked" by the attack.

Gunhilda of Wenden was a Polish princess, daughter of Mieszko I of Poland according to Chronicles of Thietmar of Merserburg, Adam von Bremen and Acta Cnutonis regis princess and Danish Viking Age queen consort, the supposed spouse of 10th-century King Sweyn I of Denmark (c. 960–1014). The sources about the wife or wives of Sweyn are contradictory (he is also said to have been married to Sigrid the Haughty), and historians have debated whether she is the Polish Swietoslawa given another name in Norse sources.

которая в свою очередь приходилась дочерью императору Священной Римской империи Оттону II и его супруге Феофано, византийской принцессе.
Рыкса происходила из семьи, принадлежащей к высшей немецкой аристократии того времени. У неё было трое братьев и шесть сестёр: Аделаида, Феофано, Ельвига, Матильда, Ида и Софья, которые были настоятельницами монастырей в Кёльне, Майнце, Эссене, Нивеле, Нойсе, Диткирхене, Филлахе и Гандерсхайме, а братья Людольф, Оттон и Герман занимали важные церковные и светские должности. Герман в 1036 году стал архиепископом кёльнским и канцлером Италии, Оттон — в 1035—1045 годах — пфальцграфом Лотарингии, затем герцогом Швабии в 1045—1047 годах, графом Дойца (Deutz) и Ауэльгау (Auelgau) в 1025—1047 годах.
В 1025 году вместе с мужем Рыкса была коронована на польский трон. В конце 1031 года, в связи с политической ситуацией (свержением Безпримом её мужа Мешко II и его бегством в Чехию), решила вернуться в Германию.
В браке с Мешко II родила троих детей: в 1016 году Казимира Кароля (будущего польского князя Казимира I), Рыксу (имя не точное) и между 1020 и 1025 — Гертруду.
Рыкса Лотарингская была прекрасно образована, поэтому занималась воспитанием и обучением детей.
Королева отправилась в Германию, забрав с собой сына, дочерей и их ровесницу Матильду, младшую дочь Болеслава Храброго и его четвёртой жены Оды Мейсенской.
В Польшу она больше не вернулась, но до конца жизни пользовалась титулом королевы. Несмотря на отсутствие в стране, Рыкса имела большое влияние на польские дела во время правления своего сына, князя Польши Казимира I Восстановителя, и внука Болеслава II Смелого.
В 1047 году Рыкса стала монахиней основанного её родителями бенедиктинского монастыря Браувайлер (нем. Abtei Brauweiler), находившегося в пределах Пульхайма недалеко от Кёльна, где прожила 16 лет. Перед смертью она завещала всё своё имущество монастырю. Умерла 21 марта 1063 года и была похоронена в Кёльне, в костеле Marii ad Gradus.
В 1817 году при демонтаже костёла останки Рыксы Лотарингской были перенесены в Кёльнский собор. Усыпальница Рыксы Лотарингской в часовне св. Иоанна, Кёльнский собор.

Эдмунд Железнобокий (Эдмунд II; англ. Edmund Ironside; между 988 и 993 — 30 ноября 1016) — король Англии из Уэссекской династии, правивший с 23 апреля по 30 ноября 1016 года. Прозвище было дано за его упорное противостояние датскому завоеванию под началом Кнуда Великого. Эдмунд был вторым сыном короля Этельреда II Неразумного и его первой жены Эльфгифу Йоркской. Он отличался храбростью и распорядительностью, и именно поэтому англичане провозгласили его в 1016 году королём. В это время под властью Кнуда Великого была уже большая часть Англии. Три битвы Эдмунд выиграл, в результате чего освободил Лондон. Вероятно, в 1018 году вместе с сёстрами оказалась пленницей польского короля Болеслава I, который помог её брату Святополку отобрать Киев у другого брата Ярослава. После ссоры со Святополком Болеслав уехал в Польшу, забрав с собой и сестёр Ярослава, в их числе скорее всего была и Мария.
Польский учёный Г. Лябуда предположил, что польский король Болеслав I
распорядился построить для пленниц дворец в византийском стиле в уединённом месте на Ледницком острове, с домовой церковью. Мнение Лябуды подтвердили археологические раскопки. Русские женщины жили там как минимум до смерти Болеслава, то есть до 1025 года.
В 1038 или 1042 году Ярослав Мудрый выдал её замуж за польского князя Казимира Восстановителя. Только после этой свадьбы русские люди, захваченные Болеславом в 1018 году, обрели свободу.
