To Seagull, that lives in each of us
‘With great gratitude to the non-fictional Jonathan Seagull who lives in each of us.’

The girl, standing on the seashore, looked at the horizon. Sighing, she threw off her light sandals and slowly walked along the edge of the surf. The sea breeze blew across her face, fluttering her hair like a black flag. The wave covered her bare feet with foam, caressing....
- I wish I could be a seagull. To fly far, far away. To be free. Maybe there you can find your flock....
- You don't have to love a mad flock of birds! You don't have to repay love for hate and anger. You must train yourself to see the truly good seagull in each of these birds and help them to see the same seagull in themselves....
The girl turned round. Behind her stood a man in white and smiled.
- Did I really say that out loud? I'm sorry...
- Don't apologise. Which Seagull were we talking about - Chekhov's or Bach's?
The girl shrugged her shoulders.
- Both. There's a lot to learn from both.
- That's true.
The man nodded, his hair ruffling in the breeze. ‘Like feathers...’ - the comparison made me smile. Without a word, they walked in silence along the edge of the surf.
- Do you have a dream? - the man was the first to break the silence.
- Yes, I do. But you'll laugh.
- I won't, I promise.
- Well, then. I want to learn to fly. I've always wanted to, even planned to go to Sochi, to Skypark... You know, they have the best TARZANKS in the world.
- That's a funny name.
- Yeah, that's what we used to call Megatroll and Bungy when we were kids.
The man looked at the girl incredulously.
- You're not afraid of heights?
- I love heights, from roller coasters to hot air balloons. True, bicycles and cars are not amenable to me - the balance suffers, and everything else ... And you?
Without answering, the man looked at her strangely, and then, after thinking for a moment, held out a hand clenched into a fist.
- ‘Take your pick.
- What?
- Don't hesitate. Choose what your heart tells you to choose.
With a shrug, the girl pointed to her right hand. He unclenched it, and there was a pendant in the shape of wings. He smiled and clasped it around her neck. She noticed a similar piece of jewellery glittering around his neck.
- What was that? Why?
- You'll find out soon enough. Don't trust your eyes! They see only obstacles. Seeing is understanding, realise what you already know and you'll learn to fly. Just imagine.
She obeyed. And immediately she felt an inexpressible lightness in her body. She's flying. flying! Soaring in a blinding light! A triumphant cry erupted from the depths of her soul...
- What's wrong with me?!
- We have the right to go where we want and be as we were created to be.
The gull turned round in flight. Beside her, a dazzling white beautiful bird glided in the currents of air. By the golden feathers on its head, she recognised it....
- But... it doesn't happen like that!
- You can't disbelieve in miracles, otherwise they won't happen.....
- I thought I had already lost my faith,’ the gull flapped her wings, rising higher. Her mate kept up...
- Your whole body, from the tip of one wing to the tip of the other, is nothing but your thought expressed in a form accessible to your vision. It is worth breaking the chains that bind our thought, and we will break the chains that bind our body.....
He spoke about very simple things: that a seagull has the right to fly, that it is free by its very nature and nothing should constrain its freedom, no customs, prejudices and prohibitions. And the gull felt the weight accumulated over the years falling off her shoulders, the burdens and sorrows disappearing.... Her wings gained confidence, her movements became smoother and smoother.
- Look, up ahead!
Her friend nodded.
- This is the Land of Storks... It is full of sunshine and warmth, and your flock is waiting for you there. We choose the next world in concert with what we have learnt in this one. If we have learnt nothing, the next world will be just like this one, and we will have to overcome the same obstacles again with the same lead weights on our paws. We fly from one world to another, almost the same, immediately forgetting where we came from and not worrying about where we are going. We just live the current moment....
They lowered themselves onto a cliff above the shore, dotted with snow-white birds greeting their arrival.
- I never thought I'd meet Jonathan Livingstone himself!
The seagull smiled with his eyes.
- ‘That's part of your wish. Dreams are supposed to come true, especially when you want something with all your soul. You just have to...
- Dream more specifically...
Jonathan gave her a cheerful look.
- Are you ready?
The seagull nodded. She suddenly really realised that there was as much extraordinary in Jonathan as there was in herself.
'Is there no limit, Jonathan? - she thought - well then, it won't be long before I'll emerge from the sky on your shore and show you some new flying techniques!’
She opened her wings and followed her friend and mentor forward into a new world of knowledge, experience and light ...
P/s: Thank you Richard Bach for inspiring and mentoring me in the techniques of flight.... In the words of the master: ‘The meaning of life is to achieve perfection and to tell others about it’. Do you want to learn to fly? Then follow this link: https://livingston.bib.bz.
